Q: how much pressure recommended for cleaning two story house w/vinyl siding by Jack from North Carolina on August 17, 2011
A: For cleaning a two story house and being able to do it from the ground, I would definitely recommend that you purchase a 3000 psi or higher machine. Any psi rating below 3000 psi will not be able to reach the top of the house from the ground. by Bill, Product Expert
Q: Do you ship this item to Australia? If so, how much would shipping be? by Jacque on March 31, 2011
A: Unfortunately we do not ship products outside of the U.S. Sorry, I would be unable to quote you on shipping this product to Australia. by Bill, Product Expert

So far, so good!
I was in need of a good residential pressure washer, and believe I have found the right one.
Previously, I owned a Karcher electric model. Upon purchase it performed well, but oddly, once left in the garage for a season it began to fall apart. The on/off switch broke and I was unable to replace this minor part. Bypassing the switch, the unit began to sprout miscellaneous, internal leaks. After throwing the unit away, I began to research the gas pressure washers and was led to Pressure Washers Direct.
I like the B&S model, and so far it is really a terrific machine. The pressure is outstanding! I am not so sure about the handle as it fits into the main frame. It actually seems that the single bolt on each side is not really secure and makes the handle a bit wobbly.
However, the unit is actually lightweight and easy to guide around. Rain forced me to wait an entire week before I finished cleaning the screened-in porch. However, after missing a week I proceeded to finish the porch, spray/wash the entire backyard fence that had accumulated mold, blasted the residue off of the kids wooden fort/swing set, clean the teak double bench, and end with cleaning the brickwork around the front and back gardens.
Easy to put together, the unit has great range and really does the job. Perhaps a little gas hungry, but I cannot say that I regret replacing the Karcher electric with a gas-powered unit. Bill had actually contacted me to let me know that they would be sending me a bonus hose reel as they did not want me to have to wait longer for the unit to ship.
No problems with this unit and, so far, so good! Thanks, Pressure Washers Direct.

Poor Design
The design of the unit makes it impossible to change the oil without dumping all 20 oz all over the unit and on the ground. The oil drain plug is located between the motor and the wheel. No way to get anything under it to catch the oil.
Unit did comparable job to others I have used.
PWD RESPONDS: The folks at Briggs may have some tips and tricks for getting the oil changed without making a mess. You can always give their Tech Support a call, toll free at (800) 743-4115 for advice.
One of our customers elevated the pressure washer on a dirt bike stand so they could get a drain pan under the motor; the Briggs folks should have other suggestions for you.

Impressed!
After putting many miles on my truck searching all the local vendors here in Des Moines, IA for the perfect pressure washer, a colleague suggested I go to pressurewashersdirect.com.
I was impressed with the selection, and did online comparisons and called to speak with a tech. All questions were answered to my complete satisfaction.
I chose the B&S 3000 PSI. Heres the best part: no taxes and free shipping. I ordered online at 2:30PM, received a notification that my PW had shipped by 5:30PM. The next day at noon, my wife called me at work and told me my PW had been delivered!
After a small amount of easy work to assemble, add oil, and gas, the unit started right up. I've used it on my multi-tiered deck on my home, and it's great.
I build decks, and now I have another sideline for my clients.

Very happy
I have used my new pressure washer several times, and it started on the second pull out of the box.
The 1600 psi unit I had could never have done the job this new one has done. Very happy and would recommend to all my friends.
Great unit and done everything I expected so far in no time.

Great Machine
I was initially undecided whether to buy the Karcher 3000 psi machine or the Briggs and Stratton. Changing the oil on these machines can often be a pain and messy and the location of the Honda engine on the Karcher left much to be desired.
Several reviewers also complained about the water inlet adapter tending to break as it was made of some kind of plastic.
My Briggs and Stratton 3000 psi arrived 3 days after ordering. Assembly was a snap. I like the way the hose, wand and accessories store within the handle.
I added oil and gas, and it started on the first pull. I used it to clean all of my screens, outdoor furniture and sailboat as well. I like the fact that it also has a full 1 gallon gas tank.
The pump and assembly seem well made, either brass or bronze. The diamond plate metal on the base gives it a tough industrial look. Since Briggs and Startton has been building small engines way before I was born, I suspect the engine will be bulletproof.
With free shipping and no NJ sales tax this was a great buy compared to what I saw in the local big box stores.

It did the job in half of the time that it took with an electrical washer.

This Briggs machine starts quick, and everything runs smoothly.
The Turbo wand is a great addition to the normal lineup of tips and the Flexon hose IS a quality addition- sometimes ornery in its twisting, but only if I'm not taking the time to understand how it needs/wants to be laid out and managed.
All in all, probably the best part of this purchase has been the reviews of purchasers of the various equipment, even the negatives, and PWDs replies.
For house cleaning and paint stripping, this machine IS a professional's machine.

Great Dads Toy!
I purchased this for general home use and it has worked very well.
The Turbo wand is awesome! I have a two story house and my only complaint is the very top of the peaks. I had no problem getting the soap up there, just the high pressure nozzle really didn't get it done. I had to use a extension ladder to really reach what I was after to clean- the spiders are really bad.
I did impress the neighbor after he saw the finished job, really a very good washer for your work around the house.
I cleaned the driveway and the cement is like new, the paver patio too. I have no trouble starting even hot. What I will upgrade on is the hose- it works fine, I just want a little more flexibility and length.
Assembly with the shipped washer was very easy. I did add a 1 1/2" PVC tube on the handle to hold the wand while it's not in use.

Decent machine, but bad advice
I called for advice to find out which model would be best for me. After explaining exactly what I was looking to do, which was clean my house which has vinyl siding and explaining the size of my house the person on the other end of the phone recommended a model which would not do the job.
This unit was not powerful enough to reach the top of my house even when standing on a 10 foot ladder, parts of my house are about 40 feet off the ground.
The machine itself seems pretty good, except 2 of the nozzles broke the first time I tried to use it. Also, I don't like the fact that it will only dispense the cleaner using the lowest pressure nozzle, so I cant get the detergent near the top of the house.
Since I really didn't know much about it before calling I wish I would have been better informed. I guess the point is, make sure you do your homework.
PWD RESPONDS: A good place to start your research is with our Buyer's Guides; they are located at the bottom of every page of our web site under the Buyer's Guides button.
Most consumer and prosumer grade pressure washers only apply detergent at low pressure. There are 2 reasons for this- applying detergent at high pressure creates lots of foam and drives it into the pores of wood, brick, stucco, etc. making rinsing difficult. And, the siphon action needed to add detergent to the water stream reduces the pressure.
A 3000psi, 2.8gpm unit is powerful enough to clean a 2 story house, and most of a 3 story house, on level ground. 40 feet is 4 stories; only a professional grade pressure washer could deliver a concentrated spray that far up.
Quick connect nozzles are made out of machined brass; breaking them is unusual. If you contact Briggs & Stratton Tech Support, toll free at (800) 743-4115 they will be able to send you replacements and advise you on getting the best performance from your pressure washer.

Very Helpful
I think that your company does an excellent job. The pricing is unbeatable, but just as important to me was the way I was treated by your customer service department.
I unfortunately had a problem right out of the box and the guy from your service department was very helpful. Please thank him for me.

Disgusted with this Briggs Pressure Washer!
I purchased this pressure washer to clean my deck which was cleaned a year ago. The lack of performance was frustrating.
I was forced to go and buy chemicals to clean the deck, and also spent an extra thirty dollars for a pack of wand tips to get a 15 degree spray.
I wound up having to use it on the deck in 2 inch slow swipes at a time- it took a long, long time. I was expecting a proper machine to have an 8 1/2 inch swipe and more even results.
This machine and supplied tips are only good for hand washing cars etc. I prefer a garden hose. It is not for proper pressure wash cleaning. Don't waste your time and money; this unit is underpowered and under performs.
I am very dissatisfied; I bought 2 pressure washers will return both! Beware.
PWD RESPONDS: A 3000 PSI unit that puts out 2.8 gallons per minute should make short work of deck cleaning. Since this unit has a 2 year Factory Warranty we suggest giving the folks at Briggs & Stratton Tech Support a call at (800) 743-4115.
They will be happy to walk you through proper set up of your pressure washer, and refer you to an Authorized Service Center if it turns out your pressure washer needs professional help. There are 2 Service Centers conveniently located within 10 miles of your zip code.

The coolest tool in my shed!
This thing is AWESOME! All my important power tools are Briggs and Stratton: generator, snowblower, etc. So that is what I wanted in a pressure washer.
I borrowed a friends pressure washer a few years ago to clean my brick patio, his was a 2600 PSI. This one is 3000 PSI *AND* the Turbo attachment.
This machine cleaned my patio in half the time of the other one, it is AWESOME! Great product, great price, great shipping, Ill do business with these guys again! Thanks!

Pleased at this point
I have found the pressure washer lightweight and easy to handle.
The pressure hose also is easy to manipulate. The first job I did was cleaning of my concrete drive. The machine worked effectively.
I am pleased with the washer at this point.
