Q: Will the sandblasting kit work with the Generac model 5993?
by Dave Siembida from New Mexico on January 02, 2012

A: If you're talking about the General Pump Sandblasting kit DSDBK1, then I'm sorry, but the Generac 5993 won't work with it.

The DSDBK1 requires at least 3 GPM (gallons per minute of water) through the pump; the pump on the 5993 maxes out at 2.8 GPM.

Q: I'm considering the Generac Prosumer 3000 psi pressure washer and see it has a 3 year warranty. What is covered and where would I have to take/ship it for service?
by Walter Slocombe from Louisiana on May 23, 2011

A: This is going to cover anything on the unit that is manufacturer defect. So if for instance the engine goes in less than 3 years and it is due to nothing you have done to it, then it would be covered. Typically on hoses, guns, and nozzles, these are more or less 90 days, because these are deemed wear and tear items. If you needed service, you can take this to just about any Generac servicing dealer and they would do service on this washer. Generac service centers are all over the place due in part to them having so many generators on the market.

Thanks,

Q: have a log home need to use bleech to restore, looking at generac prosumer 3000 or the karcher with the honda engine what are your is your advice..thanks russ hudson
by Russ Hudson from Michigan on May 04, 2011

A: This unit would work for what you would like to do, but I would strongly suggest you not use the bleach through the pump. By using the bleach and running through the pump of the pressure washer, you will void your warranty and damage your seals.

If you want to use bleach, I would suggest either a high pressure soap shooter or another attachment using detergent, but keeping the detergent out of the pump.

Thanks,

Pressure Washers Direct.

Always In The Shop :-(
I did a lot of homework before buying what I thought was a quality pressure washer. I've had it for about 2 years now, but most of that time, it's been in the shop, or waiting to go there. It worked great the first few times, then, suddenly, wouldn't start. Took it to a shop recommended by you after calling you guys. It had carburetor problem, spent over $100 to fix it, not covered by warranty. A couple of months later, same problem. Another $100+ to fix. Then that shop went out of business.

Terrible Customer Service At Ped- Washer Delivered Poorly.
I received the powerwasher with a hole in the box and oil running down the entire side of the box and leaking out from the bottom. I immediately contacted PED and was told that I had to deal with the trucker (who was gone). I asked if I could ship the washer back at my expense and have a new one shipped to me at my expense. The woman (Sherry) was incredibly rude and said no.

I then asked if I could see if the product would start and if not, could we then switch them at my expense. She... more

John,
One of the customer's employees signed for and accepted a visibly damaged box, soaked in oil - signing the Delivery Receipt as "received in good condition". We advised the customer that we were sorry to hear of the damage to his shipment but since they did not take the time to inspect the pressure washer at the time of delivery and did not note the damage on the Delivery Receipt as we instruct all customers to do via the email confirmation they received with their shipment details, they would be responsible for filing the freight claim with the carrier.

This information is clearly stated in our shipping and return policies. We advised the customer to call the carrier immediately at 800-543-5589.

Our Return Policy states:

"Damaged Products
You must take the time to inspect the goods before you sign the delivery receipt from the carrier. If you sign the delivery receipt without inspecting the shipment you will be responsible for filing a freight claim and arranging for a repair or return of the damaged goods. Concealed damage claims must be reported immediately."

Since this obviously was not concealed damage if the box was very damaged and covered in oil as the customer reported to us. We are sorry, but we are not able to assist further in this matter. This is between the customer and the carrier.

Excellent Purchase!
I am like many consumers, wishing for a better pressure washer than can be purchased at the big box stores, but not wanting to pay a huge amount of money. I performed substantial, and I mean hours, of research on pressure washers on the internet, reading about axial pumps, triplex pumps, PSI, GPM, CU, etc. :0) You know what I mean, if you're reading this.

Once I understood it all, finding a reasonably priced, well reviewed pressure washer was near impossible. Every time I thought I... more

Pump Went Out After About 2 Hours Of Operation
The Generac started up right away, and it worked very well for about 2 hours of operation over a couple of weeks. (The turbo nozzle, by the way, is fantastic.)

Then the pressure began faltering and it became unusable. I had to drive it almost 100 miles to a repair shop (not as big a problem as it sounds because we were visiting my daughter who lives near there). It's been 2 weeks now. The competent-sounding fellow at the shop tells me that the pump is on order, and it should be good to... more

Steve,
We used the Service Locator link at the bottom of our web site; Generac shows 4 service locations within 22 miles of your zip code. We will send you their contact information directly through your account.

We always suggest calling several locations to see who has the shortest turn-around time, especially during the Spring rush.

Good Product-too Bad I Can't Use It!
I have rated the unit a 1 star. I received the unit in good condition. The packaging was in good condition with no signs of freight damage. When taken out of the shipping carton, no visual damage was apparent. I found the instructions for assembly reasonable, and it took me approximately 20-25 minutes to complete assembly. The paper funnel to add the engine oil is crappy, but that is what stores are for.

The only problem during assembly was I could not insert the male end of the high... more

Way Too Much Machine For Me
I used the product selector as well as the recommendation of a sales person to purchase this model. It is way, way too much machine for me. I would have never bought it had I seen it first. The picture on the website didn't really do the thing justice.

I used it once and sold it to a contractor friend that needed to upgrade his unit. It seemed like a good machine but for me it was like taking a machine gun to an arm wrestling contest...way overkill.

Dave,
We do our best to help you make a good buying decision; we're sorry in this case there wasn't a good match.

Generally, 3000 PSI is the dividing line between Homeowner units and Contractor units.

Works Great
Very pleased with the pressure washer.

The only negative was that in my initial set up following the instructions manual, you need to make sure to put oil in both the engine and the pump. The pump oil fill cap says "oil" on it and there are two additional places to put oil in the engine.

The manual specifies that "On some units there is more than one oil fill location. In these instances it is only necessary to use one of the oil fill points." So I took off the... more

Josh,
Pump oil is a different formula than engine oil. Please be sure to use a pump oil (usually a 30 weight, non-detergent oil; available anywhere pressure washers are sold) in the pump, and the recommended engine oil in the engine.

Good Power, Short Professional Lifespan
I am a contractor who needed a machine I could lift by myself and yet had the power of the expensive models. This washer fits those specs. It worked very well... for about two years. The pump just quit on me. One quote I got was $575 for a new pump, which is just about the same as a new machine! Another place might be able to fix it for $300 - $400, but won't know until they have it opened up.

I estimate that I put about 250 to 300 hours a year on my pressure washers, so this one probably... more

Milton,
Prosumer grade pressure washers like this model are built better than consumer models, so they're great for estate owners, kennels, and stables; or light duty professional use like washing down equipment or printing screens.

To meet the daily demands of contractor use, you would be best served by a Professional grade unit. There are Pro units that are smaller than the big belt drive units.

You can see them on our web site by choosing Gas, Cold Water units and then using the filters at the top of the page to narrow down the list to Professional Grade, then narrow into the PSI range you can fit into your van (the BE P2765HC is 2700PSI, and still 3 GPM; it looks like it might do the trick).

Quality Pressure Washer
The unit is clearly of high quality and more on the professional side than residential. The high pressure hose hits the plastic shield and the unit's vibration cuts into the hose. I was able to modify the plastic shield so the hose clears it.

Restarting is a problem once warmed up. However, some suggestions found online (i.e.playing with choke) seemed to work, but it won't restart on 1-3 pulls.
Pros: Easy To Use, Durable, High Quality, I'd Buy It Again
Cons: High Pressure Hose Hits Plastic Sheild Restarting Tough
