Q: I have a Briggs & Stratton« Elite Series 2700 PSI Gas pressure washer. I need to shoot a stream of a bromine roofing demoting agent 30 - 40' onto a roof at a 2:1 and 3:1 (water to chemical ratio) .. most often at 2:1.

I was looking at the General Pump High Pressure Soap Shooter Nozzle with Rinse Capability.

What would you suggest

by Steve Buchan from California on March 02, 2015

A: All of our chemical injectors and soap shooters would be a 10:1 ratio. I do not have anything that will be a 2:1 or 3:1 ratio. With that being said, this should allow you to shoot approximately 20-30FT. This would be the best choice available for you.

Q: Bill, I just bought a used Coleman Powermate 2750 that works really great. I would like to know how to use the chemicla pick-up system. The pick-up tube came with it and looks like it's never been used. I have a two story house with mildew on the North and West sides and need to apply chlorine mixture. Please tell me just how to use the system. Thank you very much in advance.
by Tony Holcombe from Florida on April 02, 2011

A: With a siphon hose chemical injection system, you can only apply the detergent at low pressure. To pull the detergent out of a container, you have to attach the black "detergent" spray tip to your wand. You will not be able to pull detergent using any other high pressure spray tip. If you happen to have an adjustable spray wand, you have to rotate it to your low pressure setting.

If you need to reach 2nd story levels with detergent or you wish to apply detergents at high pressure, you could always purchase a high pressure soap shooter nozzle. I posted a link below to the item:

Bruce,
This is a fairly simple device- snap it into the front of your spray wand, drop the end of the tube into a container of detergent or other chemical, and squeeze your spray gun trigger.

The only tricky parts are using the wheel under the spray head to adjust the soap concentration, and the density of the chemical you're trying to spray.

It is the siphon action of the water rushing by that picks up the chemical you want to apply- so that chemical needs to have a thin consistency, closer to water than to dish soap. If the liquid is too thick the siphon won't be able to pick it up.

It's a good idea to start with the adjustment wheel in the 'least amount of soap' position to establish the siphon, then turn up the concentration to suit the job you're doing.

If these tips don't help, please contact the folks at General Pump directly, toll free, at (888) 474-5487 before the 30 day Warranty expires on 7/8/16. They will be able to supply you with additional advice, and replacement parts if needed.

We appreciate your business, and apologize for any inconvenience.

Works Well
Had the company email directions (didn't have any in box). Didn't help. Got to job site, played around with it (the more you have the adjuster backed out, the more chemical it produces), and it works VERY well. Shoots @ 25 feet straight up.

Took a few minutes to get it to prime, but no issues after that. Mix your chemicals correctly (it mixes 10-1, but no information to let ya know that).

It is saving me from climbing ladders to clean a 2 story apartment complex which is almost... more

William,
One thing you might want to try is diluting the soap you are using. It should be close to the consistency of water. If it's thick like dish detergent it will be very hard to siphon.

The idea behind the Soap Shooter is that it will spray up to 3 stories high (about 30 feet) so you can stay on the ground and not have to use a ladder. It relies on a siphon formed by the water rushing by to suck soap up the hose and into the water stream.

This nozzle comes with a 30 foot hose so you can work in a wide area around your bucket of detergent. Once you start lifting the nozzle in the air by either a telescoping wand or climbing a ladder, you are asking the siphon to suck soap out of a bucket along a 30 foot hose, against gravity- that makes it harder to move the soap up the hose and into the water stream.

The nozzle can be used with pressure washers up to 5000 PSI. If you have a lot of pressure making the siphon, you will be more successful fighting gravity; if you have less pressure, you will be less successful fighting gravity.

Awesome Product
I've done a tremendous amount of research online and locally here in Texas. Once I reviewed Pressure Washers DIRECT and talked with the parts dept, I was sold!

Them guys up north don't fool around. The best service and pricing is thier priority.

I purchased the high pressure soaper for my 3800 psi washer- that is what I needed years ago! It puts out the soap very fast which you can regulate and has a easy 20 ft reach with the soap! Awesome product, guys.

Can't wait to get my turbo... more

Surprised How Versatile This Tool Is.
I started on a ladder. Then relied that gravity was preventing the solution to siphon. So I wasn't able to get it to work. Once I realized that. I had to get it to siphon holding it flat on the ground then climb up the ladder while it's going. If I let it stop I would have to climb back down & do it all over again.

Once I figured it out it was game on. I made the line shorter and brought the solution up with me on the ladder I had no issues at all. Now with that said. When I got on the... more

No Instructions
I didn't receive any instructions w/ this soap nozzle. I see mentions of a shut off valve, but I don't see one. There is also mention of rinse capability, but I don't understand how to do this.
Pros: Durable, Easy To Use, Price, Reliable
Cons: Bad Instructions

Terry,
We're sorry you didn't receive instructions with your Soap Shooter. The black cap between the nozzle and the hose should rotate to adjust the detergent/water mix.

You can rinse with plain water by turning the black cap all the way off, which keeps the detergent from siphoning into the water stream. You could also just take the end of the soap hose out of the bucket, but that will introduce air into the water stream, making the water stream less powerful.

If you have other questions you can always call the folks at General Pump, toll free, at (888) 474-5487.

Flop
I tried using this with a Generac 4000 psi/4 gpm machine and it would not work. The siphon hose was simply too long to be properly vented and develop a vacuum. I ended up using my brother in law's X-Jet Pack instead.

The shooter will probably work with a shorter siphon hose, but that eliminates one of the main benefits of the shooter. Save your money.
Cons: Unreliable

Michael,
You also ordered a 24 foot long telescoping wand- that's a long way up, against gravity, if you put the Soap Shooter on the end of the wand.

Like siphoning gas out of a tank, you may need to start the siphon with the nozzle close to your soap supply. Once the siphon has been established it should work farther away.
