Q: Am I correct in reading your Q&A, each wand(fiberglass and aluminum) is made for rinsing OR soaping down the house? Is there one that will do both? If not, will the regular wand on the pressure washer be good enough for rinsing? Thanks by AJ from Virginia on September 24, 2011
A: The fiberglass version of these telescoping wands can only spray high pressure water. The aluminum versions can do both, pull detergent and spray high pressure water. by Bill, Product Expert
Q: What extension should I purchase for a 3000 psi / 2.7 gpm pressure washer if I want to apply detergent with the extension? I'm looking to do the second story soffits on my home. by Mark from Virginia on July 30, 2011
A: I would suggest that you purchase the 18' Aluminum version model DLTG18A. You can only apply detergent thru the aluminum telescoping wands because of the 5/16" hose that runs thru the middle of the wand. The fiberglass versions use a 1/4" hose and you cannot apply detergent with those models.
I would also recommend that you purchase the wand belt model D20015 for use with this wand. The 18' and 24' telescoping wands can be a little difficult to keep steady when fully extended. The wand belt keeps them stabilized. by Bill, Product Expert
Q: Why is the pressure loss an issue with 18ft extension wands? At this height, the loss should be about 10psi (to push the water to that height), so even at 1800psi one should not notice any difference. Even my garden hose works that high (on my roof, two story house). by Mike from Illinois on July 15, 2011
A: Unfortunately these wands really do not work well with less than about 2300 psi. With a garden hose, you are pushing water thru either a 3/4" or 5/8" diameter hose. On these telescoping wands, there is a 1/4" hose that runs thru the center of the wand. Since you are drastically lowering the volume of water you are pushing vertically, there would be a major loss of psi when using 2000 psi and below.
We have had customers try to use these wands with psi ratings lower than 2300 psi and they simply are not satisfied with the performance. by Bill, Product Expert
Q: Will the DLTG18 work with a Karcher 2300 psi pressure waher wit a 6hp tecumesh engine? Also is there an adapter for gutter cleaning? If not, what extension wand should I consider? by Joe from New Jersey on May 04, 2011
A: I would not suggest using this wand with your pressure washer. You are going to be a pretty good loss of pressure. These are capable of performing with at least 2500 psi, but even that much can see a diminished amount of pressure.
My suggestion would be to look into a high pressure soap shooter. This would be a nozzle to connect into the end of your wand and can shoot soap and water high distances.

Bill's Recommendation
This is the big brother of our "Good" choice, so you can wash taller places without having to get on a ladder.
The extra 6 feet can make this quite awkward to use, so we recommend getting the support belt to help you control it and spare your back.
Please be sure to read the safety instructions before using the wand. It will flex when the pressurized water runs through it, and we don't want anyone to get hurt!

Packaging
When I finally received my wand, the package looked like it had been run over by a truck. The UPS guy said that was how he received it. I think you can do more as far as packaging.
As for the wand, it does save us time by not having to have a ladder. Will recommend to others.
PWD RESPONDS: This item ships directly from the manufacturer- we will be happy to pass along your advice about the packaging.
