1 Question
Q: Hi Bill i have a electric karcher not sure model # about 8 to 10 yrs old need a new hose the # on the hose is 6.390-501 can you tell me if they still have them .and how much to buy. thank you for your time. by Randale Stelck from Delaware on March 26, 2011
A: More than likely that particular hose is not available any longer, Karcher has changed their connections to the gun since then. We definitely do not carry that model hose by Karcher.
We do carry a gun/hose combo kit that will absolutely be compatable with your pressure washer. This kit is a universal Karcher hose and gun set up that can be used on all of their electric models. I posted a link below to the product I am referring to:

PW Direct is Great
The hose on our Karcher K3.81 failed after about 6+ years of use (at times abuse) and we needed a replacement.
I was able to find the correct hose easily on the Pressure Washers Direct site and they shipped it quickly.
The replacement hose is actually of better quality than the original. It feels heavier and the fittings are brass rather than aluminum.
I am very please with the product and the service from PW Direct. As a homeowner, I won't have much call to buy here again, but when I do need pressure washer parts and accessories, this will be the place I will come. Thank you!
PWD RESPONDS: You will get the same great service and quality when you shop at our other web sites- Mowers Direct, Electric Generators Direct, Snow Blowers Direct, Chain Saws Direct, Log Splitters Direct, Air Compressors Direct, Sump Pumps Direct and Water Pumps Direct!

How to Pick the Perfect Replacement Hose
High-pressure hoses are a lot like car tires. After so much use (or misuse), they eventually wear down and need replacing.
Consider these four options as you try to clone your broken hose:
1. Length
This is a no-brainer. Get a long hose or a short hose. That’s easy.
2. Diameter
Diameter is a little trickier. Hoses come in three widths: 1/4”, 5/16”, 3/8”.
Small (1/4") hoses are the most common. They are designed for consumer-grade electric and small gas power washers with pressure less than 2700 psi.
Mid-sized (5/16”) hoses are the least common. They are rated for prosumer-grade gas pressure washers that can withstand pressures between 2700-3400 psi.
Large (3/8”) hoses are designed for all professional- and some prosumer-grade gas pressure washers. These hoses can withstand serious water pressure up to 5000 psi. Plus, they’re thicker to allow greater water volume.
3. Material
High-pressure hoses are made from three types of materials: PVC Plastic, Rubber and Polyurethane.
PVC Plastic hoses are the most common. These hard, plastic hoses do the job, but they’re not very flexible. If you get frustrated fighting your hose, you should consider upgrading to rubber or polyurethane.
Rubber hoses are heavier and more flexible than ordinary plastic hoses. They don’t kink and curl as often. However, rubber hoses tend to mar the surface with a black substance as you slide them across the concrete.
Polyurethane hoses are relatively new to the market. The steel-braided hose is covered with a clear, bendable plastic. Professionals love these hoses because they offer the flexibility of rubber without the marring.
4. Connections
Every hose has two connections: One connects to the pump. The other connects to the spray gun.
There are only two ways that you can connect a hose to the pump. You can either twist or snap them together.
There are four ways you can connect a hose to the gun. Take a good look at the inlet on your gun. Most have a threaded male connector sticking out. Some are female. Some are quick connect plugs.
If you’re gun has a male thread, congratulation. You simply need to buy an ordinary replacement hose with two m22 threaded (female) connectors. One end screws into the pump the other screws into the gun.
If you have a Karcher electric gun, you simply need to buy the Karcher K3 replacement hose. It is exclusively designed to snap into Karcher electric trigger guns.
If you’re gun isn’t a Karcher, but still has a female thread, don’t worry. You can still buy an ordinary female/female replacement hose. You’ll just need to buy a hose/gun adapter too.
If you’re gun has a male quick-connect plug, you simply buy a professional-grade hose with a 3/8” female snap coupler.

The Difference Between K2 and K3 Replacement Hoses
We carry two types of replacement hoses for Karcher electric pressure washers.
The hoses are nearly identical with one exception. The K3 series - which works on Karcher models starting with K.3XX -- is capable of withstanding higher pressure.
The K2 hose will work with small Karcher electric power washers with model numbers starting with K2.XX. The K3 hose works with both the K3 and K2 series electric pressure washers.
Basically, there's really no point in carrying two types of hoses. We're closing out the K2 hose simply because it is less versatile.
If you have a Karcher K2.XX model pressure washer, save some cash and get this one.
If you have a Karcher K3.XX model pressure washer, you'll need to buy the K3 series hose.
