In your case, your unit had already been gassed up- Federal Law does not allow re-shipment of engines that have been run, since the residual gas and/or fumes pose a hazard to shipping. That's why you were referred to a local service facility.

Every product we carry has a good Factory Warranty to cover repairs due to defects in materials or workmanship. Karcher adds new service locations all the time- you may want to call them, toll free, at (800) 537-4129 to see if there is a location closer to you than Long Branch that hasn't made it to their web site yet.

Reviews from folks who bought their units from other retailers are also posted, but we have to be careful not to run afoul of slander and libel laws. Since we can't verify their claims, and we also want to be fair to our manufacturers we don't publish pricing discussions, aggressive or profane rants, or personal attacks.

We also follow sound business practice and don't publish reviews that involve product modifications that would void a warranty or pose a hazard. If a product gets too many bad reviews, or a manufacturer won't support our customers, then we drop the product- our customers deserve the best.

This unit right out of the box on first start was defective. It sprayed gasoline all over the unit, me and my driveway.

I shut the unit down as quickly as I could for fear of fire.

I could not ship the unit back to Pressure Washer Direct, because of federal regulations. Upon calling Karcher, I discovered that all of the Karcher service locations listed on their website could not address the problem with this Karcher unit because it involved the motor, which is made by Honda. The Karcher customer service personnel could not direct me to a Honda service location, and suggested that I contact a Honda motor cycle sales and service facility in my area. When I called a Honda motor cycle dealer, they stated they did not work on pressure washer motors, and suggested that I try a local lawnmower sales and service center. Instead, I went to the Honda website, but there was no pressure washer service centers listed.

When I called Honda, they gave me several suggested service centers in my area. I called each of them. Each required an initial bench fee ranging from $35.00 to $50.00 just to look at the unit. None of the suggested service centers could look at the unit for A MONTH. The matter remains unresolved.

Under the circumstances, I can not recommend the purchase of this unit.

PWD RESPONDS: When we first heard from this customer, we asked Karcher to step in and see if they could help. Their National After Sales Support Manager personally called a local Authorized Service location to set up immediate warranty service for this customer, even though it's peak pressure washer season.

He emailed this customer with the information the same day. He then coached Karcher's phone support staff to provide better information when faced with this situation in the future.

Any Honda small engine is covered by Honda's warranty, and needs to be serviced by an authorized Honda facility.

Really this is one of the things my wife had on her Christmas wish list. It arrived on the scheduled date. The FedEx box and the internal Karcher box had some damage so I was a little concerned, but when opening everything was fine.

The assembly of the pressure washer was very easy, filled engine oil and filled gas tank, the unit started on the second pull.

Overall I am happy with the purchase, the only thing I found inconvenient in the design is the location of the gas fill cap but it’s not something that would cause me to give the system a bad rating.

I am happy with the machine and my wife is as well….
