Q: How does the Axial pump compare to a cat pump? I have had 2 cat pumps with honda engines and they have performed well. I have also replaced 2 other name brand washers with different pumps. I am adding another washer and trying to decide on the Karcher or another brand with the cat pump. Thank you by Chris on January 01, 2012
A: First of all, CAT Pumps are a brand, and they make many different pumps. The question I think you're asking is what's the difference between a triplex plunger pump (CAT Pumps makes good ones); and an axial cam pump.
Axial pumps are found in many Consumer grade pressure washers. They are great for homeowner use since they are reliable for occasional use, and are less expensive than triplex plunger pumps. Once the pump wears out, it must be replaced; it can't be rebuilt.
Triplex plunger pumps are found in some Prosumer and most Professional grade pressure washers, since they are intended for daily use by professionals. They are more expensive up front, but they last longer. They can also be rebuilt when they finally wear out.
Triplex pumps will also be able to handle the higher PSI and GPM leves that professionals require. by Bill, Product Expert
Q: Does the Karcher have thermal protection and safety relief valves by Ron Bronson from Pennsylvania on October 18, 2011
A: Yes, this machine does come with a thermal relief valve and bypass valve on the pump. by Bill, Product Expert
Q: I'm considering this model as my first purchase of a pressure washer for residential use. Can I run hot water from my house through this pressure washer without damaging the pump, seals, etc? by Mike from Indiana on October 15, 2011
A: This machine will accept water up to 104 F degrees. Using any water hotter than 104 F degrees will definitely cause damage to the pump's seals. by Bill, Product Expert
Q: does the pump have a drain plug so it cn be stored in a outside building with no heat for winter thanks. by James Crawford from Kentucky on October 01, 2011
A: No, the pump on this machine is a sealed pump and does not have a drain plug. In order to prevent the internal parts of this pump freezing, you would have to use a "pump saver" product. I'm posting a link below to the chemical I am referring to:
<a href="/Karcher-9.558-998/p1420.html" title="http://www.pressurewashersdirect.com/Karcher-9.558-998/p1420.html" class="bluelink">Karcher Pump Saver</a> by Bill, Product Expert
Q: Hi Bill. I'm interested in this Karcher 3050 model but can't seem to find any other pictures that shows a detergent reservoir. On the videos there is one shown, but it's different model. I have some Shermin Williams Deck Clear I'm planning on using and need to know if I need to buy and added bottle to attach to the wand. Thank you. by DEL from Pennsylvania on August 18, 2011
A: This particular machine does not have a detergent tank on board the frame. This model uses a siphon hose injection system for applying chemicals. I would not recommend injecting any chemical thru the machine/pump unless it is rated as "pressure washer safe". More than likely your best option would be to purchase a downstream high pressure soap nozzle. You could run any chemical thru this nozzle and it will not affect the machine at all. The part # I am referring to is 100145 by Bill, Product Expert
Q: Hi Bill- We have an island off the coast of Maine. We have to use clorox to clean the mildew off four buildings every Spring. We had a pressure washer in New Orleans when we lived there that would spray clorox on the low pressure and then we would rinse it off. Can this pressure washer spray clorox on the low pressure setting? Most that we have looked at lately are not downstream of the pump. Thank you. We will probably have it shipped to our Florida address and then take it to Maine next Spring. by Cam Marshall from Maine on August 08, 2011
A: No, I would not suggest using bleach thru the chemical injector on this pump. This machine does not use a fully downstream injection after the pump and you would definitely cause damage to the pump seals and o rings. All residential grade pressure washers we carry are going to have the same type of chemical injection.
Your best option for use with this machine, would be to purchase a high pressure soap shooter nozzle and spray the bleach thru that. I am posting a link below to the product I am referring to:

Bill's Recommendation
There isn't a big stretch between our "Better" and "Best" choices in this category. Both have good engines and good pumps.
The difference is in the details.
This Karcher unit has a durable Honda GC engine, which has earned it's place at the top of the small engine heap for being quieter and easier to start than other engines in its class.
This unit also has a heavier duty hose, 5 spray tips instead of 4, and a pro-style spray gun.
These aren't large differences, but if you're going to be using your pressure washer a lot, they can add up to more comfort and convenience.

Gallons per minute
One of the reviews mentions homes dont have more than 2.5 GPM. I went out and measured mine with a 30 hose on it and got 5.75 gallons per minute. Live near Seattle.
PWD RESPONDS: If you have "city" (piped-in) water you will have enough volume (GPM) and back pressure to successfully run a Consumer-grade pressure washer.
If you have a well or cistern, that is a different story-you may only be able to use a small, low-volume pressure washer; or if you have a slow well, we're sorry- you may not be able to use a pressure washer at all.

You won't go wrong
Ive owned my unit for two years and I am very pleased. It still starts
as if it were new, very easy, never faultering. Thats a plus for a woman.
Ive never had any issues with this unit and I have used it plenty. Every

first time use
I used my washer today for the first time. Works excellent.
Had more pressure than my old one. It would be nice if the hose would be 10 feet longer.
I did have the hose kink once when one of the coils did not straighten out. But after I unwound the hose never had that problem again.

GPM gallons per minute and Pump life?
I dont understand why they consider anything over 2.5 Gpm residential, almost 100 % of all houses have half inch hose bibs which supplies 2.6 Gpm. Once you start using hose to supply water you start losing Gpm for every foot of hose. ie 12 supply combined with 100 feet of hose, supply hose or washer hose will reduce gpm from 2.6 to 1.7 gpm and so on 34 supply 3.3 gpm to 2.6 gpm and so on. So I think they should explain how and what type of supply feed you need to get the exact gpm they are advertising. Maybe a supply feed table for proper functionality.
Also on all pumps should advertise the pump live hours of running time it is designed for so people can keep track and do premainttenence to keep longer pump life, instead of blowing pump and forced to pay expensive cost of replacement. Can you explain both.
PWD RESPONDS: Pump PSI ratings are determined at the factory, on a test bench, with no load on the pump so the manufacturer can get the best number possible while eliminating individual variables like length of hose, back pressure of the supply water, etc.
While this makes giving the customer an exact rating for their particular situation difficult, it does allow for a general comparison of products from brand to brand.
Different manufacturers recommend different maintenance intervals; it's always best to check your particular Owner's Manual for the specific requirements of your unit. There are several Smart Phone apps available to help you track and remember your service intervals.

I have not used it very much, but so far it starts great, cleans deck, washed driveway, washed pickup and car,, plus a metal building.
Would recommend it to any one.

Quick service & superior quality
I received the Karcher pressure washer within 72 hours from placing the order online. Very simple to assemble.
Best part was the easy start of the Honda motor right from the beginning. It seems to have adequate pressure to do any job that I may have.
I would recommend this pressure washer to anyone who asks. Thanks for the quick service and superior quality.

Great Pressure Washer
The Karcher G3050 OH Pressure Washer arrived from Pressure Washers Direct in the exact time frame that was promised. Everything was good and easy to put together.
I have used the pressure washer about four times since I got it in mid March. It starts on the first pull nearly every time and it performs great. I cannot believe what a good job this pressure washer has done around my house.
Thank you Pressure Washer Direct

I dont think you can do better than the Honda 4 stroke motor. Straight out of the box we filled it with gas and oil and it started on the first pull and has every time since.
This is a great power washer for your home patio, siding or anything else you need a power washer for. Light enough for anyone to use!!!
PED continues to be my first choice!!!

Problem Child
Pressure washer was delivered with a blown out tire. Tires are cheap so replaced tire . Checked out washer prep to use filled with fuel and as soon as started began to leak fuel. Appeared to come from throat of carburator. Contacter Direct they sent me to Karchers. Karchers advised of local warranty shop . 25 miles north. Loaded up washer and delivered to Family Farm and Home. Tech checked out machine and could not find a problem. Suspect float in carb stuck or had trash in seat?? Since unit has been working fine. I would probably buy from local store next time.
PWD RESPONDS: Karcher should have also replaced the tire under warranty; or you could have filed a shipping damage claim if the container was damaged.
The warranty procedure is the same for bricks and mortar stores as it is for online stores, as long as they are authorized dealers like Pressure Washers Direct.com.

All looks great.

Carb bowl drain might be open
I am satisfied with the performance of this pressure washer and I would recommend this model to any one for use at home or on a farm. The Honda engine starts easy and performs well. There is a good selection of tips for the pressure wand, however I was disappointed to find the plastic on the white 40 degree nozzle cracked after only two uses.
I would purchase this unit again.
The manufacturer needs to do a better job letting customers know that some of these units are shipped with the carburetor bowl drain in the open position. When you first start the engine it sprays gasoline out the drain hose. Consumers that are not familiar with small engines may have a difficult time finding the shut off screw. This is not a problem as long as the customer knows to close the shut off before starting the unit for the first time.
I found Pressure Washers Direct to be a good company. There staff are polite, business like, and knowledgeable. I would buy product again and recommend them to anyone.
PWD RESPONDS: The hose, tips, and spray gun have a 90 day warranty from Karcher. Just contact them directly at (800) 537-4129 to ask them for a replacement for the whit tip.
The Karcher folks will ask for the serial number of your unit, so be sure to have it handy when you call.

Very pleased
I had been looking for a pressure washer but hated to part with the $, for a big box store piece of crap, after reading so many bad reviews.
While checking out numerous online sites, I stumbled across Power Washers Direct, what a great find.
After comparing all the models in my price range I ordered a Karcher 3000 psi with the Honda engine. The process was very fast, they check out your credit and send a conformation email within minutes.
Shipping was one week and FedEx dropped it right at my door. It took about a half hour to assemble, the only prob I had, was the tire valves were a little difficult to access.
I have used this unit a dozen times the past two weeks and it works great, one or two pulls and the Honda engine fires right up.
With NO sales tax, FREE shipping and six months no payment, this was definitely the way to go. I was able to spend a little more and get a better model, than I could at the local big box stores.
I will be buying from this company again.

Ive never had a pressure washer that starts one the first pull, until now. How incredible is that?

KARCHER = really good
This is my first PW and I think I made the best choice. I have used this thing straight for 45 hours except for the adding of gas and it has been flawless.
I used nearly every tip provided as well as the Turbo that I bought.
The Honda motor started on the first pull right out of the box, after adding the oil of course.
I would say this has been a great purchase for the price and would totally recommend this unit.

Highly impressive machine, however open fuel drain could be dang
After a disappointing visit to a chain store for a new PW, I looked online and found PWD. Very satisfied at the selection until I had to narrow down to CA compliant models, yet still a good variety to choose from.
From what was offered, this model seemed to be the better value all around. It shipped relatively fast, 2 days after the purchase. I opted to pick it up at the FEDEX facility 60 mi. north in order to get it today Sat. 3 Sept versus waiting until Tue. 6 Sept. for delivery.
Assembly was simple, however what appeared to me as 2 open ports and a fuel line hanging from the carb bowl grabbed my attention. I looked in the engine manual but found no explination and the drawing of the motor did not differ from what I was observing. After adding oil, gas, air (tires came uninflated) and water hookup, the unit started within 3 pulls. Operation was impressive, it made very quick work of the numerous jobs I had awaiting me.
After shutdown I was cleaning up the unit and observed raw fuel start and continue to drain/drip onto the chassis from the drain line with fairly heavy fuel fumes coming from the rapidly evaperating fuel as it hit the hot base of the motor. I was quite curious as to why a CA EPA compliant motor would have raw fuel draining openly. Also, because of this unexpected design, I had to change my plans of storage in the garage due to having a gas water heater in there.
Now I'm in no way an EnviroNut, I simply think the design of open fuel draining is rather careless. Great unit aside from that, so far.
PWD RESPONDS: Please contact the folks at Karcher Technical Support, toll free, at (800) 537-4129 to ask their advice about the fuel line.

Awesome Pressure Washer!!!
I reveived my Karcher G3050OH pressure washer within 2 days of ordering. That is incredible.
Out of the box, it took about 15 minutes of very minor assembly. After airing up the tires, filling the crankcase with oil and filling the fuel tank
I really like the large capacity fuel tank, one pull and we were up and running. Ive never had a small engine that took only one pull to start.
I loved the incredible ease of use and the amazing job it did on my walkways and patio. A very well built machine. I look for this pressure washer to last me for many years to come.

Great Pressure Washer
After much research, I settled on the Karcher G3050OH as likely the best combination of quality and cost. The unit was delivered on time, required little assembly, and after adding the required engine oil, was ready to go.
I cleaned hanging blinds, awnings, a patio and both vehicles the first day. The pressure washer lived up to its rating, performing all the tasks very well. I also purchased both the Multipurpose Cleaner and Vehicle Wash and Wax concentrates both definitely helped clean surfaces.
The Honda engine starts on the first pull every time and has plenty of power to generate the 3,000 PSI.
I did an experience an issue with pressure surging after the first few minutes of runtime. After following all the recommended procedures to remedy the problem, without success, I placed a call to Karcher America and was sent a new spray gun and heavy duty pressure hose. Problem solved! I would recommend this unit to any homeowner that's serious about their pressure washing.
