Q: Bill, I live in the country with a well. I seem to have ok water pressure but it is certainly not as strong as my mothers in the city. I had an electric 1800 PSI Pressure Washer which worked fine. But it has finaly burnt out the wiring. Can I get the Karcher model G30500H, or could I ruin it if there is not enough GPM at my home. I will be useing 80 foot 5/8 water hose at all spikets! Or should I play it safe and go for a 2600 PSI and 2 GPM.
I will be waiting to hear your recomendation before ordering from Pressure Washers Direct.
Thank you, Mickel L Swartout

by Mickel on May 18, 2012

A: This Karcher model G3050OH would absolutely work fine on your well system. Actually I would definitely recommend that you go with a Karcher brand machine if you are running off of a well, as Karcher uses self priming pumps that are designed for these type of applications.

However, I would suggest that you stick with a maximum of 50ft of garden hose to supply the machine. You could always purchase extra lengths of high pressure hose if you needed to reach a farther distance.

Q: How does the Axial pump compare to a cat pump? I have had 2 cat pumps with honda engines and they have performed well. I have also replaced 2 other name brand washers with different pumps. I am adding another washer and trying to decide on the Karcher or another brand with the cat pump. Thank you
by Chris on January 01, 2012

A: First of all, CAT Pumps are a brand, and they make many different pumps. The question I think you're asking is what's the difference between a triplex plunger pump (CAT Pumps makes good ones); and an axial cam pump.

Axial pumps are found in many Consumer grade pressure washers. They are great for homeowner use since they are reliable for occasional use, and are less expensive than triplex plunger pumps. Once the pump wears out, it must be replaced; it can't be rebuilt.

Triplex plunger pumps are found in some Prosumer and most Professional grade pressure washers, since they are intended for daily use by professionals. They are more expensive up front, but they last longer. They can also be rebuilt when they finally wear out.

Triplex pumps will also be able to handle the higher PSI and GPM leves that professionals require.

Q: Does the Karcher have thermal protection and safety relief valves
by Ron Bronson from Pennsylvania on October 18, 2011

A: Yes, this machine does come with a thermal relief valve and bypass valve on the pump.
by Mike, Product Expert

Q: I'm considering this model as my first purchase of a pressure washer for residential use. Can I run hot water from my house through this pressure washer without damaging the pump, seals, etc?
by Mike from Indiana on October 15, 2011

A: This machine will accept water up to 104 F degrees. Using any water hotter than 104 F degrees will definitely cause damage to the pump's seals.
by Mike, Product Expert

Q: does the pump have a drain plug so it cn be stored in a outside building with no heat for winter thanks.
by James Crawford from Kentucky on October 01, 2011

A: No, the pump on this machine is a sealed pump and does not have a drain plug. In order to prevent the internal parts of this pump freezing, you would have to use a "pump saver" product. I'm posting a link below to the chemical I am referring to:

Q: Hi Bill.
I'm interested in this Karcher 3050 model but can't seem to find any other pictures that shows a detergent reservoir. On the videos there is one shown, but it's different model. I have some Shermin Williams Deck Clear I'm planning on using and need to know if I need to buy and added bottle to attach to the wand. Thank you.

by DEL from Pennsylvania on August 18, 2011

A: This particular machine does not have a detergent tank on board the frame. This model uses a siphon hose injection system for applying chemicals. I would not recommend injecting any chemical thru the machine/pump unless it is rated as "pressure washer safe". More than likely your best option would be to purchase a downstream high pressure soap nozzle. You could run any chemical thru this nozzle and it will not affect the machine at all. The part # I am referring to is 100145

Q: Hi Bill-
We have an island off the coast of Maine. We have to use clorox to clean the mildew off four buildings every Spring. We had a pressure washer in New Orleans when we lived there that would spray clorox on the low pressure and then we would rinse it off. Can this pressure washer spray clorox on the low pressure setting? Most that we have looked at lately are not downstream of the pump. Thank you. We will probably have it shipped to our Florida address and then take it to Maine next Spring.

by Cam Marshall from Maine on August 08, 2011

A: No, I would not suggest using bleach thru the chemical injector on this pump. This machine does not use a fully downstream injection after the pump and you would definitely cause damage to the pump seals and o rings. All residential grade pressure washers we carry are going to have the same type of chemical injection.

Your best option for use with this machine, would be to purchase a high pressure soap shooter nozzle and spray the bleach thru that. I am posting a link below to the product I am referring to:

Ive owned my unit for two years and I am very pleased. It still starts
as if it were new, very easy, never faultering. Thats a plus for a woman.

Ive never had any issues with this unit and I have used it plenty. Every

This Machine Is A Monster
I purchased the Karcher G3050OH-BONUS. I got a good price + free shipping. I ordered the unit on Friday afternoon and it arrived Wednesday! From IL to NJ. WOW. AMAZING.

This machine is a monster. I opened the box, and I put it all together. Very easy. Added oil and gas. Pulled the coil starter and it worked! The first week I power washed my aluminum siding, concrete deck around my in-ground pool, and I just started power washing my fence. GERMAN ENGINEERING.

I got it because it has a... more

Problem Out Of The Box
Started unit upon completion of assembly and discovered a gas leak at the tank. Contacted Karcher and was told to take to local contractor who had Karcher service contract.

Unit was repaired but lost several days of needed power wash use.

Kurt,
No matter where you buy your pressure washer, if it needs service under the warranty it needs to go to a Factory Authorized location. Your unit has 1 year Factory Warranty through Karcher; they have 5 service locations in your zip code area. They will take care of warranty work on your pressure washer.

The engine has a 2 year Factory Warranty through Honda Small Engines. They have 12 service locations within 20 miles of your zip code area.

Most Karcher Warranty locations are equipped to work on your entire pressure washer, but this is their busy season. You may get service faster with an engine problem if you took it to one of the Honda small engine locations simply because there are more of them to handle the work load.

We suggest calling around to find which location has the shortest turn-around time, but service locations don't usually help you over the phone to fix it yourself- they won't make any Warranty money that way.

Great Machine
I finally "smartened-up" and paid a few dollars more for a quality machine. The Craftsman and Troy-Bilt pressure washers pale in comparison to the Karcher unit I now own.

It pays to own the best.

Bad, Bad, Bad
I bought this approximately 4 weeks ago. It has yet to start.

Yes, I put oil in properly. Have new gas, Pump pressure trigger is released, and multiple pulls. Choke properly applied and switches appropriate as well. No start. I believe this will be a warranty fix because I am not willing to get into the guts further. So far, this is a fail.
Mike, the Pressure Washer Expert
Product Expert
Laurella,
We apologize for the inconvenience! By "pump pressure trigger is released" is sounds like you squeezed the trigger and let the water run before starting the engine- that gets all the air out of the pump and avoids vapor lock. If you haven't tried that yet, you may want to.

There are several Karcher Warranty Service locations in your area, as well as Honda Small Engine Warranty locations. We will send them to you directly through your account.

Pleased
I received my Karcher pressure washer a day earlier than expected. When I took the item out of the box I noticed that one of the wheel hubs was damaged. Karcher is sending a replacement, but I have not received it yet. The customer service representative was very polite and apologized for the inconvenience.

The unit works well. I pulled the starter cord three times and it started right up.

The only problem occurred when I filled the motor with oil. The directions stated that the unit was... more

All In All, A Good Machine
Works good, great pressure!

But in my opinion the wheels should be in the back so we can pull it as needed. I added an extra 100 feet of hose to fix that!

All in all, a good machine.

Cleaned Patio In 30 Minutes
Started on 2nd pull. Came with no damage.

Seems water hose won't keep up with pressure washer. Have to release trigger for about 5 secs. between bursts. This seems to prolong the cleaning cycle using the green tip. Although I only used this washer for about 30 min. it it cleaned my patio very well.

Don't know if I need to do something to allow for continuous cleaning or this is just what happens with a 3100 psi washer. I didn't have this problem with my old 2200 psi washer.
Mike, the Pressure Washer Expert
Product Expert
Joseph,
If your pressure washer isn't getting enough water, and you are on a well system- you are using water faster than your well can produce it. You will need to be VERY careful not to run the pressure washer pump dry, as this will damage the pump and isn't covered by the warranty.

If you are on city water, you may want to try a shorter, larger diameter garden hose. That will get the most water to your pressure washer.

Just Right For Me
I've used this machine for about 6 hours now. I chose this machine because I wanted the Honda engine and a setup that was easy to roll over turf.

The pressure and flow exceeded my expectations, it is very powerful. Then engine is easy to start and not too loud. The frame looks sturdy. So far I am delighted.

The only negative is that the wand/hose is only 25 feet and a bit cheesy. I will probably upgrade.
