A: This pump mounts to a 3/4" engine shaft. More than likely your 5.5hp engine does have a 3/4" shaft, however you should confirm it before making the purchase. All engines that size will have either a 3/4" or 7/8" diameter shaft. Although the size difference is minimal, it makes a huge difference in determining the compatibility of a pump. by Bill, Product Expert
