  1 Question
Q: Hi, I have a 3800 psi cold pressure washer. What should the pressure read on my pressure gauge, and do I check with the wand off? How much should it read when the wand is open? Thanks for your help.
by Bill from Florida on March 24, 2011

A: The 3800 psi rating you have on your machine is the max psi rating that the pressure washer can put out. The only way to achieve the max psi rating (in this case 3800psi) is to use the zero degree spray tip at the end of the wand.

The operating presssure of the pump will definitely be lower than 3800 psi. Coming off of the pump you will more than likely not get more than 3500psi which would be considered the operating psi. The additional psi will come from restricting the water through the hose and spray tip. This is typical with all pressure washers regardless of the brand or size, the operating pressure will always be lower than what the max psi rating is.

This gauge is designed to be attached to your pump and not the wand through a standard 3/8" quick connect connection.
