Disappointed
We had the Simpson 3000psi/gas/2.4GPM purchased from Menards. Menards worked with us but Simpson did not (even hung up on us & we were being polite!) The unit had to have a new pump before the first use, covered by warranty but we had to take it to the shop & wait to use it then.

On the 5th use, weeks later, it leaked water out the bottom everywhere! Under warranty supposedly but Simpson would not work with us. Would not recomend this unit or company.
Pros: Price, Easy To Use
Cons: Durability, Low Quality, Unreliable, Poor Customer Servicerepair

Don't Buy This Powerwasher
The pump is junk.

I bought the Simpson 3000psi/gas/2.4GPM from Menards. The unit had to have a new pump before I was done with the first use. It was covered by warranty but we had to take it to the shop & wait to use it.

On the 1st use, weeks later, it leaked water out the bottom everywhere! I took to a Simpson service center and they can't get anybody from Simpson to call them back. After 3 weeks it sits in the shop. I called the Simpson consumer line and they would not work with me.... more

Junk
Pump housing leaks and Simpson will not replace it unless I buy the whole pump for $170.00. They would only offer 10% off the price.

Good motor but I'll never buy anything from Simpson ever again.
Pros: Price, Easy To Use, Honda Motor
Cons: Simpson Cust Svc Sucks, Does Not Sell Replacement Parts

Rick,
The Factory Warranty on all pressure washers covers defects in materials & workmanship, but doesn't cover what the manufacturer considers wear and tear, or abuse.

Handle Manufactured Incorrectly
I just purchase this Simpson 3000 pressure washer from a warehouse club.

Got it home and tried to install it but found the handle was manufactured incorrectly and would not fit on the chassis. The left side was 3/4" longer than the right so the button latch on the right would not lock. It was also out of square. I could have used it anyway but I figured, "Why should I accept a manufacturing defect?"

My thoughts were that if they can't make a simple handle correctly, what... more

Gary,
I can't speak for the warehouse club where you bought your pressure washer, but sometimes units will get mishandled during the shipping and warehousing process. That can lead to minor damage like the handle being bent.

One thing occurs to me- if the handle was bent slightly out of square, that would seem to automatically make one side longer than the other. It is possible that leaning on the handle to square it up might have solved your problem (and shipping damage is not covered under most Factory Warranties).

Hopefully you will have many productive hours pressure washing with your new unit.

Used 3 Times & Pump Failed
I used my Simpson pressure washer 3 times (about 10 hours) and the pump failed. It cracked and leaked oil all over my driveway.

The unit was was one month out of warranty so the repair was not covered. At their suggestion I took it to an independent shop in the service area, they had a half dozen like mine in for repairs. The service tech said they had a lot of problems with pump failures.

Simpson customer service was polite but refused to make any concession or provide a replacement... more

Gas Leaks From Carb
I had the same result reported by Oliver in June 2012 post. After assembly, upon turning gas control switch to begin flow, gas started draining from the carb. The only way to stop it was to switch back to close position.

Simpson was helpful and gave name of local warranty servicer -- or return to big box store (which is what I did). Very disappointing since unit was so easy to assemble and instructions were very clear.
Pros: Price
Cons: Low Quality, Leaks Gas

Laurence,
A quick thing to check is to look under the carb where the fuel hose connects. There is a small wire spring clip that holds the hose in place that can shake loose during shipment.

Sometimes all it takes is to secure the fuel hose with the clip.

Two Strikes And It's Out
We purchased this unit at a warehouse store for use at a public school. Used the unit every week.

Ran great however after 9 months the bolts attaching the water pump sheared off for no apparent reason. We took it to have it serviced and were told it would have to have the water pump replaced because the bolts could not be removed without a great effort.

We decided to return the unit to the warehouse store who took it back with no problem. We then got a brand new unit - same model,... more

Gas Engine & Pvc Hose Do Not Mix
The engineer who chose PVC as the outer cover for the hose, chose badly ! IF at anytime the hose contacts any part of the engine, it will melt the hose in a split second !

The next folly is the coupling ends are not standard 14mm, or even 15mm... but both! So, if you wanted to upgrade to a more heat resistant hose... YOU CAN'T ! You are stuck with the same junk hose. And, you have to purchase it from Simpson, since.. remember, the couplings are proprietary !! Buyer beware.
Mike, the Pressure Washer Expert
Product Expert
Frank,
All of the pressure washers we sell use high pressure hoses that will be damaged when they come in contact with a hot muffler.

The Simpson connectors should be either standard M22 (22mm metric) or 3/8" NPT threads.

Trying Number Two
I purchased this unit at a warehouse store; assembly and start up was easy. It worked great the first two small jobs- a deck and front porch. However, early in the third job the engine started pouring out blue smoke while under a load

After shutting down the unit and checking it for a problem, the engine restarted, but was leaking oil out the crankshaft. It appeared to have blown the crank oil seal. I called the warehouse store who put me in contact with Simpson. Very helpful personnel... more

Randy,
Please check model numbers and features carefully when comparison shopping- the warehouse stores often have special models made for them that use different components so they can hit a specific price point.

Poor Customer Service At Simpson
I was thrilled to be able to purchase my own pressure washer after years of renting. After 20 minutes ( I kid you not) of use, the wheel snapped off. Looked to be a bad weld of the wheel bracket onto the frame. I tried to contact Simpson, to no avail, with longer wait times than I could tolerate.
They didn't respond to my email either.

I finally called Costco, whose concierge service assisted me in reaching them. the first customer service rep offered to send a new axle and wheel. When... more

The Good And The Bad
The good: this pressure washer starts easily when cold. It cleans very well with lots of pressure.

The bad: this pressure washer can be hard to start when hot. Oh- and it runs hot. The plastic wand holder is very cheap and broke off the very first day of use.

Bryan,
Please give the folks at Simpson a call, toll free, at (847) 348-1508 for a replacement wand holder.
