Pick the Perfect Engine-Powered Pressure Washer
If you think about it, a gas-powered pressure washer is basically an engine and a pump.
Consumer-grade pressure washers (starting at $299.99) feature direct drive systems with either axial cam or wobble pumps. It’s the size of the engine, however, that determines the strength (and price) of the pressure washer.
Basically, you’re buying horsepower. The greater the horsepower – the larger the engine – the more expensive the pressure washer.
So, how big of a pressure washer do you need? You have two options:
1. Size Up Your Assignments
Ideally, you should buy a gas-powered pressure washer based on your projects. After all, you need to get the job done.
Gas-powered pressure washers can tackle any tough assignment – except stripping paint. You’ll need at least 3000 PSI if you want to strip paint. Smaller models simply don’t pack enough punch to break the chemical bond – no matter how long that you spray.
