Q: Is there any real difference between these two model numbers for Simpson pressure washers "MSH3125-S and MS31025HT-S ?" I have researched both and both are the same price at many locations. The biggest difference besides some subtle word play about having a commercial GC190 engine is the color. Lastly which one would i receive if i ordered from your website? Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.
by Ryan from Kansas on August 06, 2016

A: First of all, the Honda GC engine is their consumer grade unit- their commercial grade engines all start with GX. Both of these units come with the consumer grade engine.

Feature for feature they appear to be a match. It looks like the "T" version could be a special edition they made for a warehouse store. The handle angles look a little different- but that could also be the way the photos were taken.

We work very hard to make sure what you see online is exactly what you get in the box delivered to your door- so if you order from us, you will get the black engine cover.

The other thing to remember is that you won't pay shipping or sales tax when you order from us. (Sales tax is charged on Illinois orders, since our warehouse is in Chicago.)

Thank you for your interest in Pressure Washers Direct!

Q: What's the dimensions of the box it comes in? Thanks
by Dave from New York on July 10, 2016

A: The shipping box is 33 inches long by 21 inches wide by 19 inches high.

Q: Mike,
2 questions:
Wood piers and plastic decks- is this to much pressure for treated wood and plastic decks?

The pressure washer comes with 25' of hose.
if i want to add another 25 or 50' to existing hose do
i need an adapter. If so what is the part number and price.

by Bill Holmes from Illinois on July 04, 2016

A: It would work well for either application and have included the hose information for the extension.

Q: Does it have a safety or control release valve to protect the pump?
by Randall Beem from Missouri on June 30, 2016

A: The pump does have a thermal relief valve which will pop if the water inside the pump gets too hot. It is not good for this to have to pump as it meant the seals could have already been prematurely worn from heat.

Q: Hi Mike,

I'm looking for pressure washer with 3000 psi, because that's what was recommended to me in order to use a telescopic 25'+ wand with it effectively. Thing is, I'd like to get a unit that has a 3/4" hose. I like the stats on the Simpson MegaShot 3100 PSI (Gas-Cold Water) Pressure Washer With Honda Engine, as well as the price, but it comes with a 1/4" pressure hose.

Can I buy a 50' or even a 100' 3/4" hose and use it with this machine instead? In other words, will it still connect to this machine and gun or no? Do you have a suggested unit that's better, at a similar price? One you recommend? I will be using this annually on my house, deck, fence and drive with sidewalk. Residential, but want it to last, if that helps.

Thanks,
Gordon

by Gordon from Georgia on July 19, 2015

A: Yes, you could purchase a 100 FT hose to use with the unit. However, those hoses are quick connect and would require you purchasing 2 adapters to attach it. You would need adapter model D10037 and D10088. I have attached links for you to view both adapters and the 100FT hose I would recommend.

Q: This pressure washer works fantastic. The only problem is that it shakes so much that the spray tips come out of the holders. When using on concrete the machine will just spin around. What can I do to stop the movement?
by George from Iowa on June 14, 2015

A: Unfortunately, there is no way to stop the vibration of the unit while in operation. However, you will have to make sure you are constantly spraying water. This should cause the unit to not vibrate as much and is not damaging the pump. when the unit is left in idle for to long, the water will heat up and damage the pump seals.
by Brian, Product Expert
Q: how many cc's is the motor?
by Bob from New Jersey on June 07, 2015

A: This unit uses a Honda GC190 which is 190CC's
by Brian, Product Expert
Q: Does this power washer come with the oil for the pump and engine when I make my order?
by Chris Janz from Louisiana on May 04, 2015

A: The pump is sealed (no maintenance of oil) and will be shipped with oil in it. This will also come with a quart of oil shipped with it for the engine. There may be some residual oil in the engine from when it is tested at the factory so we recommend to check the level and add as needed (be sure not to overfill).
by Brian, Product Expert
Q: Can you adjust the pressure?
by George from Massachusetts on April 08, 2015

A: This unit does not have adjustable pressure at the pump, however, it is just a matter of choosing the right colored spray tip for your application.

Q: Can this or any pw work with gravity fed water? I would hook it up to a 45gallon water tank not a faucet under pressure.

Thanks

by Rick from Arizona on February 02, 2015

A: No, this unit needs to be attached to a water source with a Min of 20 PSI and 3GPM. The only units that can be gravity fed are the belt drive units.
by Brian, Product Expert
Q: On the Simpson Megashot 3100- if i order it can i get 50 feet of hose with it?
by Peter from Connecticut on July 22, 2014

A: You can order an extension with it to make your hose 50 feet total. This will come with the necessary adapter to join the two hoses together.

25' Extension Hose

You can also purchase a separate 50 foot hose.

Q: Can I use the MTM Hydro 3.0 Turbo Tip Nozzle on the Simpson Model MSH 3125-S Washer ?
Also, where do I find a tank for the cleanser so the siphon tube can go into and does it mount to the washer ? Thanks a lot

by Pat from New Jersey on July 14, 2014

A: Yes the MTM 3.0 orifice turbo nozzle would be the correct item for you. We do not sell add on detergent tanks here. I would recommend reaching out to the folks at Simpson to see where one can be purchased. Their number is 877-362-4271
by Brian, Product Expert
Q: Does the Simpson 3100 have a container to put cleaning detergent in.
by Jason from Louisiana on March 09, 2014

A: No this unit does not have a detergent tank. It comes with a downstream injection system, which is a siphon hose running off the pump. You would put the siphon hose in a detergent of your choice and it would draw chemicals when using the black tip.
by Brian, Product Expert
Q: I bought a Simpson 3100 from Sam's that was the display model, when I got home there were no spray nozzles. I think the bag blew out of the pickup. Anyway, I need to get tips for the sprayer, a model MSV3100 p/n 60464. Are tips available separately?
by John Owens from New Mexico on August 30, 2011

A: Yes, there are definitely spray tips available for purchase. I am posting a link below to the correct size tips you would purchase for that model:

Q: I'M CONCIDERING BUYING A SIMPSON 3100 MODEL MSV3100. DON'T KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT PRESSURE WASHERS.
I'M A FARMER AND I WILL USE IT AS AN ALL AROUND PURPOSE WASHER. IS THIS A GOOD PRESSURE WASHER

by LARRY GUNTER from South Carolina on March 26, 2011

A: Simpson is one of the first and largest pressure washer manufacturers in the U.S. and they make great quality pressure washers. Also, this model has a Honda engine installed on it which is one of the most reliable small engines available for pressure washers. You can definitely use this model pressure washer as an all purpose machine that would be capable of handling a variety of tasks

Q: I have moss buildup on my concrete patio which is very thick. I need a pressure washer that will clean down to the concrete in a fairly short period of time. I've used the 2600 psi versions before but they do not cut it. Any advice?
by Robert Olsen from Washington on March 26, 2011

A: I would definitely recommend using a pressure washer with at least 3000 psi. A 3000psi pressure washer is normally sufficient for cleaning concrete. Given the amount of moss build up that you have and depending on how large of an area you have to clean, you might want to purchase a pressure washer with a psi rating between 3400-4000 psi to complete the project as fast as possible.
by Brian, Product Expert
Q: I bought a 3100 psi Simpson PW @ Sam's Club. Can I get a 50 foot hose with fittings for this machine from you/Simpson?
by Bert Solomon from South Carolina on March 26, 2011

A: Yes, we carry a 5/16" 50' hose by Legacy.

I posted a link below to the hose I am referring to:

The MSH3125-S Simpson unit has a durable Honda GC engine, which has earned it's place at the top of the small engine heap for being quieter and easier to start than other engines in its class.

Amongst all of the consumer-grade pressure washers we carry, this model has been by far the most reliable and durable pressure washer in this category.

Put it all together and you wind up with a very versatile pressure washer at a very reasonable price.

Product Failed Miseably
Purchased this product after much research. Needed it for one specific job. Worked great until I shut it off and could not start it again. Very disappointed. Honda was always my motor of choice. This has got me in a spot with a half finished job.

Paul,
I am so sorry you're having problems re-starting the unit! 2 quick things to try- pull the spray gun trigger and let water run through the gun before you try to start it. This drives out any air from the pump and clears up vapor lock that will stop the engine from turning over.

The other thing to quickly try is to loosen the gas cap & let air in the tank before starting the engine. Sometimes debris will block the vent in the gas cap. As gas is used it creates a vacuum in the tank and starves the engine of gas. If this is the case you may be able to clear the vent with a paperclip, or call the folks at Simpson at 877-362-4271 for a replacement cap.

If neither of these quick-fixes helps, please give the folks at Simpson a call (877-362-4271) for further troubleshooting. Please also have the serial number of your pressure washer handy when you call them in case they ask for it.

We appreciate your business, and apologize for any inconvenience.

Power Washed Down To The Bare Wood!
My deck and ramp had years of sealer and stain and looked horrible with uneven wear spots, damaged surfaces, and stains. I used my Simpson to remove it all in one step). It worked and it's down to the bare cedar wood and staying that way!

Bad Start Good Ending
When the box arrived the top of the box showed oil had soaked through it. Yes, oil... After opening it up I had determined that the oil filler cap was loose, causing whatever oil remained in the engine compartment to come out. The instructions said the engine is empty of oil but I wouldn't expect it to be completely empty. I also wouldn't' expect it to have that much oil in it. I would also expect that handlers would read the side of the box that says "This end up"!

Best Pressure Washer On The Market
I had tried multiple pressure washer before, and this is by far the best. Runs smoothly and exactly by directions. Equipment is effective, doesn't leak everywhere.

Minor problems are it moves when water is being used.
Pros: Easy To Use, I'd Buy It Again, Easy To Store, Quiet
Cons: Moves when spraying, Not easy to move manualy, Nozzles pop out of holder during use

Richard,
You may want to keep a wedge or two of wood handy to chock the wheels if movement causes an issue. The pneumatic tires make it easy to move the unit around and help absorb vibration- but they tend to react to the powerful water stream and motor.

Glad It's In One Piece
So far the product is great. The only problem I have is with the shipping. The power washer came fast but the packaging was terrible. Oil from the washer leaked in the box and by the time the box reached my front door it was ripped and falling apart.

I'm not sure if the issue is with Pressure Washers Direct, Simpson, or Federal Express. For the price of the equipment one would think the security during shipment would be more of a priority.

I've used this several times over the past few weeks and it's great so far. Assembly was a breeze. The instructions are clear and the parts are marked to avoid confusion. The motor oil was supplied, and the container holds exactly the amount you need to add.

Pleased With My Purchase
If you're like me you anguish over buying home improvement/maintenance equipment. I gave up on the flashy/cheap residential brands long ago, and try to stay within the pro-consumer/contractor boundary. My small farm EATS equipment, so I do my research (some would say too much) and eventually make the purchase. Such was the case with buying a new pressure washer to replace my 8 year old (electric) Karcher.

Randy,
For readers of this review, I'd like to chime in with the information that consumer-grade electric pressure washers do need to be turned off during lag times or they'll overheat. It's the water rushing through that keeps the pump cool.

I just purchased this pressure washer and have been using it a lot. It starts the first pull every time and has some serious power. Very easy to move around and I would recommend it to anyone.

I have owned my fair share of pressure washers and this is bar none the best one I have purchased. Very easy to do maintenance on as far as changing oil and cleaning the air filter.
