Q: You mentioned using a Briggs turbo spray tip on the Generac model 6596 in order to have a "5 in 1" tip. which one would work for the 2800PSI The chart has 2500PSI and 3000PSI?
by Fred from West Virginia on November 07, 2014

A: You could use the 5 in 1 tip with your unit. The Briggs model 6197 would match up perfectly with the Generac 6598 model. However, the 5 in 1 tip has nothing to do with a turbo nozzle. The 5 in 1 tip connects to the end of the wand and replaces the colored spray tips. It allows you to adjust the spray fan without switching out the tip. A turbo nozzle would connect in the same place. It takes the pencil sharp high pressure spray, and rotates it at approximately 3600 RPM. This gives you a 5-7" high pressure cleaning swath, allowing you to complete jobs in 50% of the time than using the red tip.

Q: Mike, we have two old washers, but want to get one new one. Trying to decide between two at Lowes. Generac 2800psi or Troy built 2800psi Briggs & Stratton. Complaints In the reviews, the Troy had a small fuel tank and the hose connections were tight quarters. The Generac someone complained it didn't have a plate with the model or serial # so he couldn't find a parts listing on line. He may be right. The model # at Lowes is 6549 but it doesn't come up on Generacs web. I would like to get the Generac but I want to able to get parts too. Will that be a problem ?

by DAVID E SPEELMAN from Ohio on July 27, 2014

A: I do not sell or specialize in parts here. Also, Lowes gets different products then dealers like my self. You should reach out to Generac with your concerns about Lowes products. If you are looking to purchase a model from us, we offer free shipping and no sales tax here at Pressurewashersdirect.com

Q: In what ways is the Briggs and stratton 2800psi washer better than the Generac 6596. I would like a washer that I could put extension rods on to wash my house. Are they both able to install rods on the handle? I just need a washer around my house to do little jobs but I would like it to last more than a couple years. Are both pumps the same quality? Thanks
by Craig Lapp from Pennsylvania on June 05, 2014

A: Here is the listing for 2800 PSI Pressure Washers. You can look at up to 4 pressure washers side by side by clicking the Compare boxes on the left side of the screen. That way you can easily decide which features appeal to you most.

Both units use M22 connectors, so a Telescoping Wand or Extension Wand will work.

The folks at Generac have put some of their units on sale for the next 9 days, so you can get more bang for your buck.

Since you're looking to keep the unit for a long time, you could also use the Service Locator to find out which brand has the easiest access to Factory Service in your area- in the long run that convenience could outweigh the small price difference.
by Mike, Product Expert
Q: What are the pump pistons made of?
by B Wheeler from Ohio on June 04, 2014

A: This unit comes with an axial cam pump. The pistons are made of metal (usually an aluminum alloy) for strength without excess weight.

You usually won't find ceramic or ceramic-coated pistons until you get into units with triplex plunger pumps.

I hope this helps- we appreciate your interest in Pressure Washers Direct!

Generac is known for quality power equipment, and this unit is no exception. The engine is a robust 196cc, and it has a durable AR brand axial cam pump.

The frame on this unit is a very well thought out design with the consumer in mind. It's balanced and easy to maneuver, with an easily accessible detergent tank at the bottom.

The 6596 has a vertical frame design to reduce storage space, but uses a horizontally-shafted engine and pump for extra durability.

A Great Power Washer At A Great Price
For the price this power washer model is simply fabulous. It started immediately and right out of the box.

Its performance in cleaning the hard to remove dirt encrusted on cement pavers was a breeze. The features were many and most impressive.
Pros: Durable, Features, Easy To Use, Exceeded Expectations

Worked One Time Only
I called Generac service and they told me that I had to take it in to the repair shop which I did. I was called an told that it was fixed so I went to pick it up. When I got there the serviceman told me that he called Generac and they said they wouldn't cover it and claimed the powerwasher had been knocked over which never happened. I live alone and am the only one who handled the machine and I know it was never knocked over.

He also told me that they had 3 other Generac powerwashers... more

Lorene,
I understand how the repair person's comments must have upset you. Maybe I can help...

If the unit was tipped over during shipping (which isn't supposed to happen, but sometimes does) oil can leak and coat the air filter and spark plug, preventing the engine from starting. This would be considered shipping damage, and isn't covered by any brand's Factory Warranty. It must be reported very soon after the unit is delivered, or the shipping company won't accept the claim.

If it started once and ran perfectly, then wouldn't run again there are a couple things that could be wrong. The easiest is that the vent in the gas cap is blocked- the vapors back up, and the engine won't start. Taking the gas cap off for a couple minutes, then replacing it and trying to start the unit again can help.

You can also try squeezing the trigger and letting the water run for a bit before starting the engine. This drives all the air out of the pump and prevents vapor lock. (Air in the pump makes the engine very hard to turn over.)

Usually we can step in and help during the first 30 days you have the unit. We are past that time frame, but we'd still like to see if we can help. If you would please send us a copy of your invoice (I'll email our fax number to you directly) I will be happy to see what we can do.

We appreciate your business, and apologize for your disappointment and inconvenience.

Performed As Advertised
This is my 3rd pressure washer. My original electric one never worked well. My second was an Excel 2600 PSI with a 5HP Honda motor that worked pretty well until the "strap-pump" failed. After dissecting the pump, I realized what a terrible design that was and looked for a cost effective replacement with an axial pump. So far the Generac has performed well.

The vertical posture of the unit takes up much less space in the garage and the front "step" makes a great place... more

Works Well, Arrived Damaged
This unit worked well, but the gas cap came cracked in half- hopefully they can mail a new one but sort of a pain.

This seems well put together (time will tell) and has many nice design features like the on board detergent reservoir. It is also compact so it hardly takes up any space in the garage.

However, if you are buying a pressure washer to clean your gutters forget it - it does not remove leaves, it just fills your leaf filled gutter with water. The telescoping extension pole... more

Arrived In Box With Broken Gas Cap
Not even out of the box, broken...we will see how this gets fixed and resolved quickly. Otherwise, it's a return. Doing nothing until I receive a new gas cap. I read about this happening with others'. Not a good way to do business with a brand new customer and first time Generac buyer.

Excelent Pressure Washer
Received my pressure washer in 5 days. Very easy to take out of box and assemble. Started on first pull. I cleaned my sidewalk and driveway and this machine has plenty of power and did an excellent job. I also cleaned a white fence in my back yard and it looks new again. Does not take up much space to store in my garage but has lots of power for a small machine.
I am very pleased.

Pressure Washing Stonework
The Generac pressure was recommended to me by a neighbor. The unit came well packaged. Instructions were very clear and I had the unit up and running in no time at all. We get a lot of mildew and mold in Florida, so I used this pressure washer to remove buildup on my landscape curbing. The green cleaning nozzle was used and no detergent was required. Job was finished in a couple of hours and the stone work looks like new. Nice product!!!

Impressive First Use
Did a whole bunch of research and found the Generac 2800 PSI to be the best reviewed for what I was looking for. Arrived yesterday, not much in the way of assembly required, snap on the handle, put the oil in (included), add gas & hook up the hose. Started on the first pull. That never happens. The thing is compact... and still a beast... cleaning better with the 15 degree tip than the old one (to be fair was only 2200 PSI) did with the 0 degree tip. Totally impressed with the performance,... more

Very Happy
I purchased this mostly for work around the house such as cleaning concrete and washing cars and windows. I purchased a foam cannon to wash cars with and the two together work perfect.

I am very pleased with the way that the pressure washer has performed and would purchase it again. PED has the best price that I could find on the internet and it came in less than a week.

Thanks
