Q: does this unit shut off when you release the trigger? by Juan on April 02, 2012
A: Yes, this machine does have the total start/stop feature when you press and/or release the trigger. by Bill, Product Expert
Q: Where is the K5.740 made? One of the reviews states it is NOT made in China. I can't seem to find more info for this model. However the info I did find on the similar model K5.540 states that it is indeed made in China. Also, can the connector (not the quick disconnect) between garden hose and pressure washer be replace (by a metal part) by the user? I had problems with this in my last Karcher pressure washer (different model). Thanks, Kay by Kay from California on October 11, 2011
A: This machine is NOT made in China, it is made in Italy for sure. As for the garden hose connection, yes you can definitely replace it with a brass connection kit. The garden hose quick connect kit we carry for this pressure washer is model 81K030SH. by Bill, Product Expert
Q: is KARCHER K5 700T300 SAME LIKE THIS ONE? by ALLY on October 05, 2011
A: Yes it is the same machine but the K5 700 is the european version. I do not believe you can purchase this model in the U.S. Also, the 300 part of that model number means that the T300 surface cleaner is included with this pressure washer. by Bill, Product Expert
Q: Hello, Is Karcher X Series 2000 PSI (Electric-Cold Water) Pressure Washer model 240 V. and also can You tell international shipping price to Armenia Yerevan by Davit on October 01, 2011
A: No, the Karcher X series model runs off of 120 voltage.
Unfortunately we do not ship any products outside of the U.S. at all so I am unable to quote you a shipping cost. by Bill, Product Expert
Q: Can the pressure be turned lower than 2000 PSI for applications that need lower pressure?
Are there any recommendations from keeping the PW from tipping forward as easily as the reviews indicate?
Do accesseries have a shipping charge? by Janet Cowan from Minnesota on August 26, 2011
A: No, this model does not have an adjustable pressure regulator to lower the psi output. This unit does come wth an adjustable spray wand though that you can rotate to lower the psi output. The lowest you can adjust the wand down to is about 1600 psi. By doing this, you will also decrease the fan spray pattern width. by Bill, Product Expert
Q: Where can I get a copy of the Karcher Model K2093 Manual ? by Terri from Oklahoma on August 12, 2011
A: I am posting a link below to where you can download a copy of the owner's manual for all Karcher models.
Karcher User Manuals by Bill, Product Expert
Q: Hi. I was looking at the Karcher pressure washers and noticed two models that seem to fit the bill... the k5.740 and the k5.540. What's the difference between the two? From the specs, they appear to be identical. by John Dunn from Connecticut on July 28, 2011
A: These 2 machines are exactly the same except for the housing on the K5.740 is more rugged and heavy duty. The K5.540 is strictly designed for consumer usage. The pump and motor are exactly the same on these 2 models. by Bill, Product Expert
Q: Some of the Karcher pressure washers are for industrial use?.... Ihave a car wash and I would like one of continuous use. by MR. VALDEZ from California on June 17, 2011
A: If you are looking for a model for continuous use. You would want to be looking at Shark, this would be the commercial line of Karcher. Something like a CB-402007B would be better for what you are looking to do.
Q: Do electric pressure washers require any routine pump maintenance. by Rex Hagen from Illinois on June 07, 2011
A: No, these are going to be maintenance free pumps. We do suggest you use a product called pump saver with this upon storage for the season. This helps keep the seels lubricated and winterizes the pump.
Q: I have a Karcher K5.740 The garden hose connector cracked and I cannot find the rreplacement piece Its actually the water inlet with connector that needs replaced Where can I find this part? by Steven Drexler from Pennsylvania on April 30, 2011
A: If you are referring to the quick connect adapter that comes with this unit, you can always purchase a metal garden hose quick connect kit that would be more durable. Unfortunately we do not carry the exact replacement adapter from Karcher.
If you are referring to the actual threaded water inlet that is attached to the machine, unfortunately we do not carry that type of part for this model pressure washer. If that is the part you are referring to, please visit www.pressureparts.com . They will more than likely have what you are looking for but there is a chance that part cannot be replaced.
If the garden hose quick connect adapter is what needs to be replaced, I am posting a link below to a product that would be compatible.
Q: I just purchased a Karcher K5.740. I can't seem to verify if this model has an upstream or downstream detergent injector. Would anyone happen to know? by Daren from Tennessee on April 17, 2011
A: This model uses a detergent tank for the chemical injection. This would not be considered an upstream injection. The type of injection this model uses is more of a downstream injection because it pulls detergent through a siphon hose from the tank. However, a true downstream would apply the detergent at the end of the spray wand and would allow you to use any chemical you wanted. You can only spray detergent at low pressure with this model which is also why this injection is not considered upstream. However, I would still recommend that you only use pressure washer safe detergent such as Karcher's soap packs. by Bill, Product Expert
Q: Can an extension cord be used or is it limited to the 25 foot power cord it comes with? How will this unit work for cleaning of a ski boat? by Jeff from Idaho on April 04, 2011
A: Using an extension cord is not recommended with electric pressure washers. However, if the situation requires you to do so, you can use a 25' cord as long as it is an outdoor rated 14 gauge cord. You may increase the extension cord length up to 50' but then you have to increase the size of the cord to a 12 gauge cord. by Bill, Product Expert
Q: Comparing the different Karcher models, I still have the same 2 basic questions.1) Does motor shut off with the trigger wand? and 2) where the water hose connects is it metal or plastic and is a kit needed to covert it to metal? by Judy Averhart from Mississippi on March 27, 2011
A: Yes all Karcher electric models have the total stop feature when you release the trigger gun. Some of the Karcher models have brass water inlet fittings and some models have plastic. This specific model has plastic garden hose fittings and comes with a plastic quick connect attachment to prevent the user from cross threading the threads. To convert the fittings to plastic, you would have to purchase a brass garden hose quick connect kit.
I posted the product below that I am referring to:
Q: Do you have any self priming pressure washers for sale (gas or electric) ? I have wood deck on my 3/4 acre pond to clean & would like to be able to use the pond water. Thank you by Mat from Virginia on March 27, 2011
A: Yes we carry 3 different brands with this feature. All Karcher, Kranzle, and Dirtkiller branded pressure washers (both gas and electric) have self priming pumps that have the capability of pulling water from a standing source such as a pond or tank. by Bill, Product Expert
Q: Do you have any self priming pressure washers for sale (gas or electric) ? I have wood deck on my 1/2 acre pond to clean & would like to be able to use the pond water. Thankyou. by John from Ohio on March 25, 2011
A: Yes, all Karcher branded pressure washers both the gas and electric versions have self priming pumps that can pull water from a standing source such as a tank or pond. We also sell Kranzle and DirtKiller brand pressure washers which too have self priming pumps. Kranzle and DirtKiller only offer professional grade pressure washers while Karcher offers residential and prosumer grade models.
I would definitely recommend that you use a filter on the end of the hose that is placed in the pond to prevent debris from entering the pump. Karcher makes a hose with filter for this purpose that we sell as an accessory. by Bill, Product Expert
Q: What happens when you use hot water in a Karcher electric power washer? I never knew they were (Electric-Cold Water) listed. by Bob Mills from Michigan on March 25, 2011
A: Karcher's cold water pressure washers can accept water up to 104F degrees. This is common with all cold water pressure washers. Using water hotter than 104F degrees in a cold water pressure washer will definitely damage and wear away the seals in the pump, causing the pump to fail. This is the fastest way to damage a pump that is rated for "cold water". by Bill, Product Expert
Q: Just bought the Karcher 3.74 from you guys. What is the "Pump Guard" which is recommended for storing and protecting the pump? And how do I use such? by Preben Jensen from California on March 24, 2011
A: The Karcher pump guard is a chemical that is designed to extend the life of the pump and the seals within. Pump guard or pump saver as it is also called, will lubricate the seals in the pump and also prevent any water that is left inside the pump from freezing during the colder months.
To use this product, you simply attach it to your garden hose water inlet fitting and turn the machine on for a few seconds. Once the chemical exits the outlet high pressure fitting, the pump is protected.
You should defintely run this chemical through the pump every time you are going to store your pressure washer away for extended periods of time such as over 30 days. You should also run this chemical through the pump periodically throughout the year to keep the seals moist. by Bill, Product Expert

Bill's Recommendation
Heat build-up is the enemy of electric pressure washers, so Karcher has developed a water cooled motor that runs quieter and lasts longer than previous models.
They've also introduced a pump that uses corrosion resistant polymer in a swash plate instead of their usual axial cam, so it will out perform and last longer than earlier models.
A hose reel that can be used while the unit is running (instead of just for storage) and a Dirtblaster turbo nozzle round out a complete cleaning package that earns our "Best" rating.

A car detailer told me how well foaming works to wash a car. I trust this guy and decided to give it a try.
I think its the best way to wash a car or motorcycle.

Looked and shopped for weeks before buying the Karcher 2000 from Pressure Washers Direct. It is all the reviews said it was.
I used it on a 30x25 10 year neglected deck. It did take more time than using the commercial models ,but it stood the task of using it for 4 hours straight without an overheat.
Found no issue with product falling over during the entire cleaning as others had mentioned.
My only issue was with a bit of doubt on shipping charge for an accessory . Website says they have to charge shipping for it because it comes from another location Hmm! When delivery was made I asked the driver where the 2nd package was. He said only one. I opened package and the accessory was in there? How do you explain it coming from another location. Just say you charge shipping for accessory and keep it right. No problem with that.
I would recommend this product and company regardless of the mislead. I also just purchased the 24 Cub cadet snow blower w power steering for next season great price and great delivery on all purchases.
PWD RESPONDS: It's pretty simple- we pay the shipping on the pressure washers, the customer pays the shipping on everything else.
We say that "...accessories often ship separately from different manufacturers in different locations." Many times they do; sometimes we have them in our warehouse and they'll ship together; either way, shipping is charged on accessories based on the weight of the item, no matter where it comes from.
We tried to make it as easy as possible by also saying "We simply charge standard shipping rates on the accessories – not the pressure washer. "
We apologize for any confusion.

Good washer in my opinion
I retired and bought a small farm. It wasn't very long until I realized I had too many gas motors with my generator, tiller, three tractors etc. I was told that the electric power washers did not have the power to do all the jobs I needed to do.
After talking with Bob, I decided to give the Karcher k5.740 electric washer a try.
So far I have cleaned my mower deck, snow blower tiller, the deck on my house and the house siding. I am very satisfied with the performance of the washer.
I did have to move a little slower on my treated deck as it was very dirty with some algie growing on it, but it did the job well. This is a good washer in my opinion.

Love it !
Bought it to clean the house and tackle a gray deck that needed staining. It performs beautifully ! Love it.
Cleaned the deck and stripped of years, and I mean years, of gray and grime. Wonderful machine and I'll recommend it to anyone.
I'll buy another in the far future after this one reaches max life !

Worked as expected
I ordered the power washer from Direct Power Washers. The first unit was received damaged, however Direct sent a 2nd one which was received in good shape. I would suggest that the packaging should be designed better to withstand the handling and shipping issues.
I assembled the unit within one hour. The unit worked as expected.
I live in Florida and we tend to have a lot of mold growing on the walkway. I power washed my walk and driveway as well as the chrome wheels to my car. It removed the mold that was building up between the pavers.
I any happy with the unit and would recommend it.
I ran the unit for about 4 hours, so I can not talk about longterm use.

I live in an area of the US where black mold grows on everything. I owned a Karcher 1650 psi pressure washer, and when it died after 5 years of hard use, I decided to upgrade to a Karcher XSeries 2000 psi unit that I purchased through Powerwasher Direct.
I liked my old Karcher powerwasher, but they outdid themselves with major improvements in the XSeries. I especially like the automatic pump shutoff feature - the pump shuts off when the trigger is released - a big pumpsaver.
I also purchased the Karcher T200 12 Surface Cleaner - what a time saver. The unit glides on the water with very little effort, and it cleans like a professional unit costing hundreds of dollars. I am very impressed!
Many of my friends have watched me clean my sidewalks, driveway, pool deck, etc. they are all very impressed with the performance of my new equipment. In fact, many of them are seriously considering an upgrade to the Karcher XSeries 2000 psi unit. Thanks!

Outstanding
Shipped very quickly, ordered 9/4/11 and received it 9/9/11. Outstanding.
Took me less than 30 minutes to assemble and begin using. Works like a dream, cleaned off some caked on mud and grease off a 11 x 22 patio in less than an hour, it looked brand new again.
One thing to be careful of, is not to pull too hard and fast on the hose reel on the top of the unit, its pretty easy to tip it over and break the connector to the water hose.
Another thing I discovered is you don't want to get to close to the surface of a white vinyl lawn chair with the thing at full pressure, before I knew Id pitted the surface of the chair like it had been sand blasted. Good thing it was an old chair.

Would not recommend
Bought this back in May of this year. Was kinda of cautious of Karcher from a unit I had borrowed from a neighbor. *Thought* a upper end model would get me a durable model....wrong
I was trying to get something that would fit with a foam canon that a car detailing professional recommended and the only electric brand that I could figure out would fit was Karcher
3 months later, 6 to 8 car washes and a deck cleaning later it started leaking water out of bottom and lost most of pressure to wand
Called Karcher and directed to a very close service center, like 2 mi away. Great!....well not so great. They are only open 8A to 4P so I had to take time off of work to drop off and pick up. Got it home and.......wait for it........still not fixed.......just leaks from a diff spot
Called Karcher again and they suggested to take back to service center...I dont think so. Talked to a supervisor and she issued me a Return Auth. I shipped per their instructions and it arrived back at the Karcher depot back on Sept 17. Still waiting for the warranty replacement
Think the lesson here is buy a gas powered one or the Kranzle one my detailng pro recomended but it is insanely expensive
PWD RESPONDS: Karcher's warranty service is set up to help you. Should you need service again, and there is another service center in your area that may have better hours: OLDE TOWNE LAWNMOWER 3242 Parker Rd, FLORISSANT, MO 314-831-9112 10 miles away from zip 63146.
I would like to caution you about using pro-grade accessories with a consumer-grade pressure washer. Karcher could have declared your warranty void since you used a non-Karcher accessory; I'm glad they came through for you.
Pro-grade units will have sturdier components & better pumps, which is why they're more expensive. The up-side is they will perform better and last longer.
I hope the replacement unit performs better for you- we are excited about the improvements Karcher built into the X-Series.
We appreciate your input, and are grateful for your business.
CUSTOMER RESPONDS: I can't help but notice that you have not posted my review. I included no profanity just the facts of a pretty poor experience with Karcher. I challenge you to post my review so that no other customers get drawn to this product like I was by the rosy reviews posted. Really does not lend very much credibility to your firm if you don't post all. I might take that in consideration as my experience with Karcher is making me wonder if I need to buck up and get a well made pressure washer. Makes me wonder if I should consider your firm or recommend you to friends.
PWD RESPONDS: The very first thing we do with each review posted by a customer of ours is to see if they need assistance from us. We do whatever it takes to provide whatever help we can.
If no assistance is needed-as in the case of positive reviews- the review goes live more quickly.
Once Customer Service has finished responding to a customer, the review and the response can be posted.
The response to this model has been very positive, and the failure rate on the hundreds we have sold so far is well below the industry average.

Excellent Product
I was searching for an electric pressure washer for my residence rather than gas because of previous problems with fuel system clogging up on other power tools from lack of regular use.
After extensive research I decided on this model. I find it to be an excellent product. Using only water I find it easily removed mildew, mold, and dirt and grime that have been on the concrete sidewalk and patio for years.
Some other reviewers sited problems with unit tipping over and with the plastic hose nozzle breaking easily, so I was cautious when first using the washer. However, I find the unit very stable and not prone to tipping over at all.
It appears to me that the only way to tip the unit over would be to continue to pull on the pressure hose after it had reached its extended length or perhaps pulling it over with the water hose. I can see where the plastic nozzle could be broken if one is not careful when relocating the unit.
If I am moving the unit any distance at all I spend 5 seconds to disconnect the water hose.
I consider this machine to be an excellent purchase.

The K5.74 is fine except these two things:
It's my second Karcher. Before I used it the first time, it fell over forward and snapped the quick connect rendering it useless. If you order this thing, go ahead and order the brass connector too. If you don't, you soon will.
Secondly, the hook they want you to use to hang the AC cord slides down the machine and eventually falls off. Ive just quit using it and the problem was solved.
The Karcher house washer might have an application, but I don't think it allows enough pressure through to do much blasting. You sure wouldn't harm your siding with it. It might blow off some paint if it is already peeling though.
PWD RESPONDS: The house washing attachment is meant for large surfaces, to give your spray more height and wash area.
Please be aware that any pressure washer can damage house surfaces if used incorrectly!

Pleasantly surprised
We live in Northern Illinois and have many concrete paver walkways and terraces, in full sun to full shade, that had collected dirt, moss, and lichens over a 10year period, in spite of regular cleanings with hose and water.
We also have a very large deck with a Trex floor that had accumulated so much mildew and that it wouldn't respond to a floor scrubber and mild detergent. It was uniformly dark grey rather than its normal light brown color.
I didn't know whether even this 2,000psi machine would be up to this task, but was very pleasantly surprised.
The combination of the pressure washer and the rotary T200 surface cleaner literally took care of all the brickwork and the deck, even without added detergent. This attachment covers a lot of surface area so the cleaning also went much faster and more evenly than could have been accomplished with a wand alone.
All the surfaces we cleaned now look like new. The T200 surface cleaner is especially nice on pavers because it doesn't seem to displace much sand from between the bricks, and it doesn't splash a big mess onto nearby surfaces or plants.
We also used the variable pressure wand to successfully clean badly stained concrete block walls. The high pressure wand took care of the few stubborn spots that the Surface Cleaner didn't get.
From what I have seen this first year, I strongly recommend this pressure washer and the surface cleaner.

Good value, as expected.
Delivery and shipping from Pressure Washers Direct was outstanding. Assembly was easy, although a small hose retaining clip was missing. Customer service had another shipped from the company in a couple of days.
This unit looks a bit like a toy compared to more robust gas powered washers, but according to its performance, which is generally good, I believe it lives up to specifications.
I use it for washing the car, cleaning the BBQ, and cleaning the concrete and deck. The supplied nozzles cover the range needed for these tasks. I also bought the underbody & gutter cleaner. This is really useful if you need to get under or above areas easily powerful, too.
Per other reviews, the quick connect plastic hose connection broke the first time I was careless and tipped the unit over. Unless you're a really careful person, you may as well order the brass replacement at the same time you purchase the unit. I bought mine at the hardware store.
A drawback to the unit is its lightness and lack of stability. It will tip over if you get in a hurry. On the other hand, you don't have to hurry. No worries about the pump overheating if you release hand pressure on the trigger. When you do, the electric motor turns off. This saves pump overheating, power, water, and enables the user to just take a break without having to be constantly using the unit or restarting a gas engine. (Be sure to turn the unit off if you walk away for more than 5 minutes!)
If you need more power and are looking for something really heavy duty to take a lot of abuse, this washer is not for you. If you want something that's ready to be wheeled out, plugged in and used moderately for the types of things mentioned, I can recommend the Karcher K5.740.

Happy in Florida
This is the second machine I own. Great equipment and performance!!!
I purchased the T200 surface cleaner for cleaning my pool deck, driveway and garage in FL this item is like a high pressure mop. I would highly recommend anyone thinking of buying the surface cleaner attachment to do so, very happy with its performance, however, I would like to have seen four spray nozzles as opposed to the standard 2.
This attachment performed better then expected. The upgrades to the new model in my opinion are superior and more user-friendly.
I believe the watercooled induction motor is a great improvement over my original pressure washer.

The title says it all, the cheap plastic quick disconnect broke the 2nd time I used the unit. I went to the hardware store and purchased a brass connector. A brass one should have come with the unit.
Other then that the unit has been working fine.

Great product other than some flimsy plastic parts
I have had this pressure washer for only a few days but have broken the water inlet piece and the hose reel crank. The problem is with how tall the pressure washer is, its very prone to falling over on its face. I was going on a washing rampage this weekend and while I have tried to be careful with it, it has fallen over on me 3 times. The first time the water inlet broke, which is really no big deal as I could order a much more durable brass replacement. Another fall broke the handle off the water hose reel crank.
Not sure if I can order a metal one or even a replacement for the stock one but it would be nice if I could order something a bit more durable.
Other than those issues, I REALLY love this thing. Detailed our 2 cars, cleaned our garage floor, and cleaned off my Craftsman tool box with it. Karcher just needs to improve on its plastic pieces that are prone to breakage.
I will say it uses much less water than you would think, and it has plenty of power for most uses.
PWD RESPONDS: You can contact the folks at Karcher by calling, toll free, at (800) 537-4129. They will be happy to advise you.
They will ask for the serial number of your unit, so you'll want to have that handy when you call. If they need a copy of your invoice you can print that at any time by clicking on the "Login" button in the upper right corner of our web site.

Not made in China
This pressure washer has completely met my expectations. For an electric consumer grade machine it performs extremely well.
It is not cheap but a case of you get what you pay for. An added bonus is, it is not made in China!

Blasts anything in its path
I have an earlier and smaller Karcher washer and it worked well, but decided I wanted another larger unit. I wanted electric instead of gas because of the maintenance for gas. I wanted something smaller than gas, too.
I selected this unit for the higher psi and the water cooled motor as I tend to wash porches for hours, cars and an RV. Overheating is a problem with many electric power washers.
I love the unit. Its compact, stores well and blasts moss, dirt, oil and anything else in its path!

Easy to set up & handle
In response to your request for how I like my new pressure washer, I really like it.
I did have a gas pressure washer for about 10 years and when I needed to use the pressure washer it was always hard to start.
I am getting much older now and that made things more difficult. My new washer has more pressure and easy to setup and handle.
I have used it about four times and I really like it.

Disappointed with spray pressure
This is the first Pressure washer I have used. I was expecting more water pressure out of it. When I pull the spray trigger, I expected at least a little kick back, indicating a good amount of pressure, at least similar to a car wash business that I use has.
I purchased this unit because it was the highest PSI rated electric that I could find. For the price, it seems like a well made unit and I was glad to NOT see a made in China label.
PWD RESPONDS: Home pressure washers are engineered so they kick as little as possible- you can get more done if you're not fighting the pressure washer gun.
This unit should have cleaned faster and more deeply than your garden hose, and used less water to boot.
Car wash spray guns have enormous power behind them- you won't feel that kind of power surge until you are well up into the commercial (4000 psi & 4 GPM) pressure washer category.
