Sold As An On-demand Unit, But Wasn't
This pressure washer was sold to us a an on-demand pressure washer. It runs at all times, not on demand.
John Does Not Recommend This Product Product Expert John, I checked with the folks at BE, and they took the Auto Stop/Start (what I believe you're calling On-Demand) feature off this unit because it wasn't proving as reliable as BE wanted it to be. I've updated our website to reflect the change, and I understand your disappointment.
We will be crediting your account $50 that will hopefully help make up for the inconvenience. We will send the details of the credit to you privately- it will take about 48 hours to process.

Expected This To Last, But It Didn't
I love having an electric washer to use, rather than lugging out the gas one. I liked this units design/size. The motor is a workhorse. The pressure "shut off" valve was a bad design and broke a few months after receipt. I bypassed the pressure switch, electing to run over to the unit and shut off manually, which worked for a few more months. The plastic water pump broke within a year. Parts are impossible to find. I felt really awful about throwing away a perfect motor when I couldn't find parts to keep this working. I love having an electric washer to use, rather than lugging out the gas one. Follow Up On First Review
After a rocky start with poor packing and leaking oil, all is good.
PWD made things right and this was very much appreciated, thank you.
Nice pressure washer works great, very quite, good pressure for what I use it for. Over all seems like a good buy, if it last more the a year or two I will be very happy.
Mine came from a distributor in Florida, hope they get that guy straightened out, giving BE a black eye.
Thanks again PWD- a little good will go a long way.

More Powerful
Just received this pressure washer. Similar to last reviewer, this unit contains oil which was spilled everywhere on receipt. After cleaning the oil off, hooked it up, runs very quiet! Looks to be of good quality.
I bought this because I was getting sick of paying $200-$300 for a Karcher which seem to last less than one season. This unit is way quieter and more powerful than any Karcher I've owned before.

Nice Unit
A bad experience turned good by PWD. I originally received a unit that would not build up pressure. That is why I rated the quality and value 3 stars. After PWD assisted with contacting the manufacturer I promptly received a unit that works flawlessly. They renewed my faith in Internet ordering.
The new washer is solid. It's quiet and works as a 1500 psi machine should. Time will tell if it is worth the price but I'm confident that this one is. I don't clean concrete with it but it works well on ATVs, vehicles, and other maintenance related activities and it is very easy to transport and set up.

Pleasantly Suprised
This is my first non-consumer pressure washer. I have grown tired of the yearly replacement of the Home Depot electric washer and the bi-monthly (!) replacement of the Karchers.
I was attracted to it because of the price but was hesitant to buy because of shipping issues people had reported in their reviews. My unit came quickly and was packed (although a bit messy with the shredded cardboard) well with no oil leakage issues.
The machine is quieter than I expected and seems to be of high quality. The pressure is good. I use it probably four times per week. Only time will tell if it holds up, but with the ability to change pump oil and replace parts, hopefully with good maintenance, it will last a long time.
I would certainly buy more if there aren't any problems within the first few months. If I had anything to complain about, it would be the shipping notification. PWDs order tracking continually listed my order as being processed with no other info. The morning this status changed to having a tracking number was the same day that it arrived. Not a big deal.

Good Washer
Over the last four years I've had two consumer grade electric pressure washer died on me. Since I need it regularly I'm hoping this prosumer model will last a long time.
I received it a few days ago and the shipping issue has been cleared up. There was no oil leakage and everything was wrapped in heavy plastic. However as mentioned below the instructions say to "replace the red shipping plug with the yellow one" is confusing because the yellow one is already in place and because the variable pressure knob is red.
Otherwise it was easy to get it up and running. It really is very quiet running. The construction is nice and has be sold handle and feel.
Performance is good, not amazing. Each time you pull the trigger it takes a second to build up the pressure which I have not experienced with other pressure washers. I like the variable control. I will probably replace the gun tip, it's not as good as my previous washer.

Better Than Good But Not Great
Shopped around a bunch and PW Direct was great. Packaging was a mess. Spent an hour cleaning the oil off of it after I pulled out the shredded paper, popcorn, plastic and whatever else they used to put it in the box. It's like the guys at the factory dug through the recycle bin to box it up.
Works well. Very, very quiet and looks to be of good quality. Adjustable nozzle is nice. Wish it sucked up the chemicals on full power. Use For Business
I have contract for daily cleaning floor in grocery stores. I contract services ''for request'': window cleaning, power wash sidewalks, receiving areas, as well as produce & dairy coolers.
For jobs outside I use a 4000 psi gas pressure washer, but inside I must use electric, because of poison exhaust gasses. I bought a different one from a big box store, and returned it a couple times, mostly because after 2-3 jobs the pressure dropped.

Problems From Day One
Bought this machine about 3 years ago and have only used it about 11 times. Very first time I used it it did not want to turn on. Power at outlet, on switch in on position, water on, pull trigger on spray nozzle, motor would not start. Tapped on pressure switch a few times and it finally started. Ran fine for about an hour, then would not start again, tapped on switch, still would not start, then tapped around switch and it started and I used it for another hour no problems.
Would pull out machine every once in a while to wash car, but same issue with intermittent starting. This year I went to use it to clean my pool deck, and the opposite happened, motor would not shut off and it would take a few seconds to build pressure after pulling trigger back on spray wand. Well that seemed to fix itself the next time I used it, but then it was back to the intermittent start. So I finally pulled off the start switch, and just use the on/off switch to start it. Pulled apart brass valve with the pin that activates switch but could not see any problem.
In hind-sight, I should have returned machine the first week it gave me problems but I had thrown the box away. I like the machine when it works (quiet, plenty of pressure) but since it rarely works right I can not recommend buying one. Problems At First....
This is the second of this model that I bought. I love the first one. Shipping was delayed for some reason. When this one arrived I set it up and all it did was blow fuses and it leaked water from the adjustment valve. The motor wouldn't turn and the machine would struggle to turn on before it would trip. This happened at two different locations. I was able to get the motor unstuck by turning it manually and replaced a couple of O rings and now it seems fine. Just What I Was Looking For
I purchased this BE Prosumer 1500 pressure washer after going through several big box store consumer pressure washers for use in the detail department at my auto body shop.
The pressure washer has been used pretty much every day over the last month that we have had it, and although I don't know the long term durability of the unit yet it has been just what I was looking for. The auto stop/start works great and it is very, very quiet, it is definitely a big step up from the consumer models.
I have it mounted on a shelf with an extra 25' of hose and quick connects which makes it very convenient.
Some of the reviews I read said there was a problem with oil leaking during shipment but mine came with the plug installed and clear instructions to replace it with the vented cap.

Appears To Be High Quality, Pressure Questionable
Today I finally had a chance to use this pressure washer, it has been well below freezing here for weeks so today, in the high 30s, I jumped at the chance to wash my vehicle.
One of the complaints regarding this machine has been packaging. I found that the shipper did a fine job packing the product box inside another carton and filling the void with shredded paper. The oil chamber arrived full with no damage to the unit. I did need to exchange the shipping plug with the permanent plug which was also included.
This unit is very heavy so it will not be tipping over on you, that is for certain. The down side to that is it may be too heavy for slightly built ladies to handle. I expect to purchase a two wheeled cart to mount it to so that will eliminate the issue, however, it will also restrict to some extent its portability.
The hose and wand seem to be adequate for the machine. The fittings on the machine are nicely done, not cheap plastic. The one concern I have is the plastic pressure switch, it is fairly large and quite exposed and susceptible to damage.
After bleeding the air from the machine I fired it up and began washing. As mentioned in another review, there is a slight delay in pressure buildup when you engage the wand, it's not annoying, just recognize it is there.
In my opinion, the pressure is not up to the 1500# rating. I am replacing a 1300# Campbell machine which burned out after ten years of use, this one barely approaches that pressure. I'm uncertain why the pressure regulator is even on this machine as is does not generate enough pressure to be an issue in most circumstances. I have a gasoline washer for the tough jobs otherwise I would be sending this one back due to this concern.
To summarize, the machine is wonderfully quiet and smooth, truly a pleasure to operate. Hopefully it lasts as long as the price reflects over and above the plastic machines. The pump is rebuildable, that is a bonus. First Impressions
Just received this washer- seems good, haven't used it yet; may comment later on how it works. The packaging absolutely sucked. It was packed with shredded paper in both the shipping box and product box. Shredded paper in every nook and cranny, in the motor fan shroud, in the switch housing- nice way to start a fire. I had to vacuum it all off, then used compressed air- what a mess.
Somewhere along the way it got tipped on its side and the pump oil leaked out- more mess, who ever thought shredded paper was a good idea should have their forehead banged against a wall a couple of times.
When I ordered this I questioned where this is made, was told Canada. OK, not so bad... I guess what was meant was it's built by Canadians that live in China. I'm close to sending it back, I do not like to be misinformed.
The Owner's Manual says 15w40 SAE oil for the pump, don't know if this is special pump oil or plain ole engine oil, that info needs to be
clarified. I have a call into PWD and BE tech support, waiting for an answer.
So- a brand new washer with no oil in the pump and can't use it yet. When I get the proper oil I will comment on how it works. Right now 3 Stars- looks well built if that accounts for anything, still has to be better than the throw away Karchers I have had In the past.

Quiet But Some Trouble
I love the quietness. Pressure adjustment doesn't amount to much. Rare that you would want to go much less than 1500 PSI, then you would just use the garden hose.

Great Product!
When I first purchased this pressure washer about two years ago it arrived cracked and had to send it back in which PWD sent me another right away in which worked flawlessly for about two years before the pressure pin started to get stuck but I used this pressure washer alot.
It's very quiet and reliable. In fact I liked it so much that I bought another but it arrived drenched in oil and after only a few uses, the fuse block stopped working on a job site as soon as I arrived and tried to use it, I was so embarassed and ashamed since having technical difficulties is frowned upon, this is why I buy good equipment, to be reliable and get the job done.
So I called PWD to see what could be done since I needed a pressure washer immediately. I offered to remove the fuseblock and use it like that way since the last one did not have a fuseblock and worked flawlessly but was told it would void the warranty. I still haven't gotten a call back. I had explain the situation and had to leave the worksite, go to the nearest Big Box, spend another $250.00 on another pressure washer after just spending $380.00 on this one from PWD for the specific reason that I wanted a well made product I wouldn't have to struggle with on the job. I couldn't wait, shop around or even go home and get a back up, I had to get to the job and get it done, an hour later. Im not happy and am waiting to see what PWD does to make it right. Update To My Previous Review
Originally I did not feel that this machine provided quite the advertised power. Since that time, however, I have added a 50' hose of a bit larger diameter which I removed from my now defunct gasoline washer.
Being in a jam i.e. a job to do and a broken gasoline washer, I took a chance with the hose and wand change and was pleasantly surprised. There appeared to be no drop in pressure and in fact perhaps a slight increase.
I did have a minor hiccup the second or third use after it had sat for a month or two. The pump valve body stuck but a quick tap with a plastic mallet returned it to operation. I now spray a bit of lubricant into it after each use. Originally I did not feel that this machine provided quite the advertised power. Worked For 1/2 My Car....then Died.
Bought this Unit and read the manual as I have read many horror stories about pressure washers. The manual is generic and some of the instructions do not apply to this model. I tried to turn the pressure knob to the instructed position, but it wouldn't move. I finally got it to move and the darn thing started dripping through a overtightened 'O"ring. Small drip so who cares?
I started in on my car and as I almost finished the front, the unit stopped. I gave up. Put the unit away and finished washing my car. I called BE and the lady said that this unit was "set" at the factory and I couldn't turn the knob. She said that the manuals are generic and some things don't apply. I asked for a copy of the manual because I wanted to order a new "o" ring and the manual I received with the unit is so bad it is illegible. I tried the unit several months later and it will not start. I talked with BE and at that time they said they could not verify the the warranty time because the unit does not have a serial number !!!
The lady said that it was impossible to have a unit without a serial number and I said I would send her a picture of it but she wouldn't have anything to do with it. I waited at least 4 months for this unit because it was back ordered and and paid a pretty penny for this boat anchor. I can't even get BE to look at it and tell me what is wrong with it. Used for less than 3 minutes total....JUNK.
I gave up. Put the unit away and... more

Good Pressure Washer With Minor Annoyances
We have had this pressure washer since November and it gets used almost daily in summer. For sure weekly the rest of the time. The only problem we have had is with the cycling switch. You MUST release the pressure when you shut this unit off so that the pressure switch is left in the on position. If you don't, you have to tap on and rotate the pressure switch housing to get it to turn on. It is probably a sticky o-ring or something that hangs up the actuator pin.
Overall this is a nice pump. It is very quiet and pressure is very smooth, with almost no pulsation.
The variable fan adjustment is very flimsy and does not always shoot straight. This is going to get replaced by a fixed angle orifice.
If you use your pressure washer all the time, this appears to be a heavy duty unit and should hopefully last a long time. Ask me in five years. Portable Pressure Washer
Very good portable pressure washer. Worked better than I expected and very easy to use.
Arrived with a minor issue, the plastic collar on the pressure hose was broken, PED shipped out a new hose the next day. Very pleased with this product and PED.

Do Not Purchase This Unit!
I bought this power washer in hopes of using it to wash a couple vehicles a week. After about 2 months of use I started noticing issues with the pump itself and the spray nozzle was no longer adjusting to different settings.
I then bought a replacement nozzle to replace the one that came with the machine. All was well for another few months until the auto start feature stop worked. This then involved timing the water turn on and machine turn on just right in order to get it just to turn on. Now it doesn't even turn on at all.
Complete waste of money on a unit that is poorly made. In addition Pressurewashersdirect.com and BE has stated they will NOT honor its warranty and either refund or replace the unit because it was "not used as described" because I washed 2-3 cars a week with the machine and its a Consumer model and not a Professional model.
Should have bought another unit elsewhere, beware when purchasing this unit from Pressurewashersdirect. I bought this power washer in hopes of using it to wash a couple vehicles a week. Cons: Heavy, Low Quality, Unreliable, Durability Tim Does Not Recommend This Product Product Expert Tim, I checked your file, and I see that the unit was shipped to a detailing company- I think that's where the idea came from that the unit was being used commercially.
I see where we got a return number (RGA#) for you, and sent you the return address so BE could evaluate your unit under their consumer-use Factory Warranty. Our sales rep at BE is expecting the unit, but I don't see where BE has received your unit yet.
In order to get Warranty Service you will need to send the unit to BE. This shouldn't be a surprise; when you emailed us a year ago asking about a couple different brands, we responded with "Just a heads up- BE's warranty is a warranty where you have to send the product back to them to get serviced. Shipping to the manufacturer is not covered but if it is a warranty claim and it is covered, they will fix the unit and send it back for free of charge."
If you haven't violated the terms of the warranty, sending the unit back for the Warranty repair shouldn't be a problem- the terms of the Factory Warranty would be the same no matter where it was purchased. The Warranty Repair techs will be able to tell how much the unit was used and if it was properly maintained once they take a look at it.
I'm not sure why you've chosen to make us the bad guys in this situation, but we have done all we could to assist you- the next step is up to you. I would like to remind you that your 1 year Factory Warranty will expire on 9/16/2014, so please don't delay sending your unit in to BE for evaluation. more Was this review helpful? 5 6 |

1500 Psi Not Enough
This unit is great for washing cars, cleaning the patio and lawn furniture, but 1500 PSI is simply not enough to efficiently clean the side walk or a driveway that hasn't been cleaned in a while.
All things considered, I think the typical DIY type would need at least 2.5 GPM at 2600PSI.
Pros: Quiet, Easy To Use, High Quality, Reliable Cons: Expensive A. Does Not Recommend This Product Product Expert A., For a big project like a driveway with years of ground-in grime a gas pressure washer around 2500 PSI and up, along with a surface cleaner would be the right tool for the job. A one-day rental would do the heavy work to get the pavement clean.
Once the pavement has been deep-cleaned, your 1500 PSI unit will do a great job keeping it that way. more Was this review helpful? 0 1 |

Good Washer! Packaging Could Be Improved...
Like other reviews I've read, the washer arrived with its oil leaking out of the bottom and sides of the box.
The instruction manual says to switch the red (shipping/transport) oil cap with the normal, yellow one before use. However, the yellow cap was already in place and there was no sign of the red one. I think these washers are now regularly shipped without their shipping/transport oil caps in place, and thus the widespread problems with leaking oil upon receipt.
Because of this leak, there was almost no oil left in the unit and I had to buy oil separately to add before I used the washer.
All that aside, the washer itself seems to work very well. It is quiet and powerful. Like other reviews I've read, the washer arrived with its oil leaking out of the bottom and sides of the box.
