Q: does it come with screw on ends, not quick connect by Alan on February 29, 2012
A: No, this hose comes with 3/8" quick connect fittings on each end. One end has a female coupler on it and the other end has a male plug on it. by Bill, Product Expert
Q: I have the DeWalt Professional 4200 PSI (Gas-Cold Water) Pressure Washer With Honda Engine Model DPW4240, Will this 4000PSI rated hose be safe to use with my 4200 PSI DeWalt washer? or should I purchase a high PSI rated hose?
Thanks, Christopher by Anonymous on December 28, 2011
A: Yes, this hose is definitely compatible and "safe" to use with your machine. The pump on that DeWalt 4200 psi machine is actually a 4000 psi rated pump. You get the extra 200 psi by using the spray wand and tip. by Bill, Product Expert
Q: I have the Simpson MVS2700 and am interested in the 50 or 100 feet host. Is 3/8 the right size? It doesn't currently have quick connect, but has threaded fittings. Does the quick connect hose come with adapters at both the pressure washer AND nozzle ends? by Masaki from Washington on July 16, 2011
A: For that size pressure washer, the best size hose would be a 5/16" diameter hose.
I am posting a link below to a hose that would work with your pressure washer and the current connections.
In regards to the Simpson 3/8" hose, you could technically use this size hose but you will probably lose about 50-100 psi out of your machine. This hose does not come with the adapters for your pump and trigger gun. You would have to purchase those items seperately.
Q: I'm looking at purchasing the Maxus Model MX5223. Does the quick connect work with the simpson 50' 3/8" High-pressure monster hose? by Owen Harper from Oklahoma on June 21, 2011
A: These should be 3/8" quick connects, so this would work.
Q: I just purchased the HD-2.5/30CH and now looking to upgrade to the 50' monster hose. How flexible is the hose compared to the one that came with my pressure washer? Also I see this comes with quick disconnects, so which ones will I need to purchase for my Karcher to make this hose work? Thanks by Mike G from Wisconsin on June 05, 2011
A: The hose would be more flexible than the one that comes with the unit, but not real flexible because they do use steel brading for durability. It is however one of the better hoses we carry. If you are looking to change over to quick connects, you will need some adapters. The part numbers on the adapters you would need would be D10088 and D10037.
I'm trying to find a hose called Tuff Skin. Landa sells the hose and it's 3/8 inch 5800 psi hose very abrasion resistant, double wire, but they have thier name labled on the sleeve even though they don't make the hose. Do you know what hose I'm speaking of? and if so, do u sell them? by Ed from Oregon on April 30, 2011
A: Unfortunately I am not familar with that brand of high pressure hose. We do carry a Simpson branded "monster hose" that is a very durable/rugged high pressure hose that is dual braided.
Q: Bill I have a standard Troy Bilt Pressure sprayer , Honda Engine, etc from lowes. The plastic hose is always getting kinked up. Not at the ends but all througout the hose. Do you have a hose that is kink free???It is a 2400 PSI unit so how long of a hose can I put on and still have pressure.
Thanks by Mike Brown from Tennessee on April 05, 2011
A: With your pressure washer rating, you would be best off purchasing a 5/16" diameter hose versus a 3/8" size hose. When using an extension hose, you will lose 1 psi per linear foot that you extend the hose past its original length. In this case, if the pressure washer came with a 25' hose and you purchase a 50' hose, you will lose 25 psi of which would not be noticeable to you.
You can extend the high pressure hose as far as you want, just keep in mind the amount of pressure that will be lost as I stated above. However with your psi rating, the maximum length that I would recommend would be 100'.
I am posting a link below to a 5/16" hose that I would recommend for your pressure washer:

Bill's Recommendation
Your dream hose finally came true. This Simpson Monster hose is made of flexible polyurethane plastic that doesn't kink or curl. Plus, the clear material doesn't mar the surface like ordinary rubber hoses.
The 3/8" hoses feature a male and female snap connector, allowing you to quickly snap the hose into place. The smallest hose is 50 feet. But, you can get one up to 200 feet.
Price Is Great! Quality Is Great! Shipping is very poor in my opinion! 10 Days to get product delivered. Slow tracking information from manufacturer. Needs to be quicker!
PWD RESPONSE: Claey, you're right. The manufacturer takes too long to ship these. We're now stocking the hoses at our warehouse. We've cut the transit time in half. It's even available for Next Day Delivery now.

It's Fine Now
The Simpson hose female quick connect fitting would not accept the male fitting of the adapter I bought at the same time. It took a while to figure out what was causing the problem as nothing was visually obvious, but it turned out to be the female receptor that came with the hose. A couple of wrenches, a trip to the hardware store, $10 for a new fitting, some teflon tape, and the hose finally became usable.
Kind of frustrating as I was eager to use my whole new set-up and wasn't expecting trouble from what otherwise seems to be a
good product.
Anyway...all is OK now. I have run out of things to pressure wash...for now! I marked it at only 3 stars because of lack of quality control (Simpson or whoever produces that part), but it is now actually functioning as a 5-star product.
I did not bother contacting Pressure Washers Direct over this as I decided to fix it myself rather than return it. But, since they asked for a review....
PWD RESPONDS: Federal Law prohibits shipping an engine that has been gassed up since it's a fire/explosion hazard. We would have suggested that you give the folks at Simpson a call at (847) 348-1508 to replace the faulty connector under warranty.

The power washer works great! The end on Simpson hose started leaking the firsy day, that was not so good. The rest of hose work great though, just had to put a new end on hose

Happy Customer
The hose is of excellent quality and much better than the OEM hose that came with my pressure washer.
It is flexible and resists kinking. The only complaint is that I should have paid more attention to the fittings. They did not mate up with my current setup. I had to make a trip to a local hydraulics store to get adapters to fit.

Junk
It ran it for 5 min. and the pump locked up. I primed it and had plenty of water feeding it. I bought at a big box store; don't buy this one.
PWD RESPONDS: The Factory Warranty is through the folks at Simpson; please give them a call at (847) 348-1508, and be sure to have the serial number of your unit handy.
They should be able to walk you through some simple troubleshooting steps that may resolve the problem; or they can refer you to local service if need be.

Reading Customer Ratings Go With The Consensus
I almost did not order this hose because of two very negative customer comments. One about a lengthy wait for his order and the other about getting a hose with the wrong fittings. However, most of the ratings were excellent so I ordered it.
It arrived within a few days, ahead of my expectation. I was notified by email when the order processed and shipped.
The fittings were exactly as pictured in the ad photo and the hose is the finest quality I have seen.
I am completely satisfied with my purchase and will use this vendor again.

First Impressions
This is only the second use of the Simpson Pressure Washer 4240H Ive enjoyed so my thoughts are somewhat preliminary.
Plenty of pressure for my purposes. I had to brace myself when using it the pressure was that great. The various spray nozzles were easy to install.
Engine started very easily. Initially, be sure and fill and not overfill the engine with the oil provided. Read the manual before doing it. It does seem to burn a moderate to large amount of gas. You might want to check the tank from time to time.
The unit comes with a big red knob to adjust the pressure to suit the situation. I could not turn it by hand. Called PWDirect and they said it sometimes comes very tight from the pump supplier and it was OK to use a wrench to get the nut under the knob loosened. That did it.
There is no mention of the pressure adjustment knob in the manual. Simpson should insert a page in the manual explaining its use.
So far its a great machine. I think I will order the turbo nozzle. It should make cleaning even easier.

I was impressed with the speed of delivery. Thanks. I haven't used it yet, but I'll be ready when I need it.

Lost Bearings
The hose itself is fine, but the bearings were lost out of the quick disconnect. I tried all the local and big box hardware stores, specialty plumbing stores and a local hose mfg for a replacement quick disconnect. No one sells a quick disconnect with fine threads, all are course threads.
I also cannot find a fitting that will allow you to adapt the course thread quick disconnect to the fine thread hose end. Why would Simpson put hardware on a hose you cannot find replacements for? The only alternative at this point is to throw away the hose and buy a product you can repair. I will not buy this hose again.
PWD RESPONDS: Unfortunately, the average person can't just cut off the bad end of a high pressure hose and clamp a new end on. Please contact the Simpson folks at (847) 348-1508 for the parts you need; then you local high pressure hose vendor can do the repair for you.

Good Stuff Fron A Very Bad Company
Sent me material that was correct, but damaged in transit. I accepted the damaged equipment with an understanding mind. Then I ordered the extension hose and they sent sent me the wrong coupler, which again I accepted with a good heart.
I asked if they could send me the correct $7.00 part for free and was told NO!
These people DO NOT KNOW the customer is ALWAYS right. They are SO TIGHT they squeeze pennies til their fingers fall off.
I WILL NEVER EVER use any of these JERKS companies again...
PWD RESPONDS: We checked our records; and your file shows that we shipped exactly what you ordered; unfortunately you ordered the wrong fittings for your hose.
Our records also show that when you called us we offered to place an order for the correct fittings; but we're sorry, it is not good business practice to pay for customer error.

Great!
I have been using the Simpson PS4240 with the Monster 50 hoses and the MTM Hydro reel. I am pleased with all of the items I purchased.
I have chosen not to run my water and chemicals through the reel so I cannot speak to its performance in that aspect. I have a few buddies who could be classified as old pros in the business and both said that if I ran chemicals through the reel I would be buying a new one every year.
If I only use the reel to roll my hose it should last significantly longer. The reel was easy to mount to my truck bed and easily holds my 150' of hose.
