Q: Hi , the dewalt professional 4200 psi pressure washer has 389 cc , so what is that in horse power and does it have a lower oil cut off , thank you .
by Allen Humphery from North Carolina on October 29, 2011

A: There is no direct conversion between CC and Horsepower. Horsepower is affected by a lot of different variables, while the displacement of the motor (the cubic centimeters, or CC) doesn't vary.

That being said, the Honda GX390 (389cc) engine puts out around 13 HP. The specs for the engine list a low oil sensor which will cut off the engine to prevent damage.

Q: What does the 3 year engine warranty and 5 year pump cover? parts? labor?
by Brian Shetler from Ohio on October 12, 2011

A: The 3 yr Honda engine warranty and the 5 yr pump warranty does cover parts and labor. The pump warranty covers the manifold and pump head, it does NOT cover the pump seals and o rings.

Q: Hi Bill,

If you dial down the pressure of the machine,
does it mean that the GPM will also be reduced ?

by Krish from Florida on August 27, 2011

A: No it will not. When you lower the psi on a pressure washer, the gpm will actually increase. However, it will not exceed the max gpm rating of the pump/machine.

Q: Will this powerwasher be too powerfull for homeowner to clean two story house and fence?
by Geraldo from New Jersey on July 17, 2011

A: No, not at all. The pressure is not a problem as long as you are using your tips correctly. This actually help you get the job done quicker and usually give you a better result. You would also have more availability when it comes to attachments. I would suggest using a high pressure soap shooter or telescoping wand if you have a two story house unless you don't have an issue getting on a ladder. While the system is a high pressure, it still would not be able to reach up to the 2nd floor. No pressure washer would without the correct attachments.

Q: Would it be safe to use a 4200 PSI pressure washer with this surface cleaner? Or would you recommended just turning down the pressure?
by Jeff from Texas on March 30, 2011

A: Yes you can definitely use a 4200 psi pressure washer with this surface cleaner. You might want to dial down the pressure just a little bit but it really isnt needed. However, the only way you can push the full 4200 psi is by using a zero degree spray tip. Normal operating pressure of a 4200 psi model is going to be 4000 psi. The additional 200 psi is only obtained by constricting the water through the hose and spray tip that I mentioned.

An Investment In Satisfaction.
This is a fine machine that lives up to its promise in every way.

I have seen some negative posts about the Honda engine giving trouble. Many people dont realize the importance of using midgrade fuel and not the cheapest fuel.

These engines do not like having old gas sitting in the carby for extended periods.

Good fuel = no issues, and all the pressure you will ever need to get your jobs done.

First class product.

Could Be Better
Hydro switch worked well. Easy changing attachments now without turning off washer. However, switch operation would be easier if lever was reversed. Now lever points to the wand hand grip and awkward to operate.

Power To Spare
I bought this to remove chewing gum that had been ground down into exposed aggregate and sealed over many times. This washer will eat down into the concrete and worked perfectly.

I did have a problem with the fitting on the pump where the garden hose attaches. The swivel pulled off and I had to go to the local Big Box store to replace the entire part. Around a $10 fitting.

With Regards To Weight...
I have been PW for 3 years. I have used this wand and a steel version. There is no comparison although slightly less durable than the steel, it weights much less.

If you can make minor repairs I recommend this product.

Excellent Job
I have had a commercial pressure washer- 3000 PSI @5 GPM- for the past 23 years til it was stolen.

I Bought the 4240, it almost knocked me off my feet when I started it. It is much lighter and more compact. I own 23 rental
houses and we just got done cleaning three of them this past month to paint them; and this machine did an excellent job.

Don't Buy Anything Else
I'm very, very satisfied- I can't believe the pressure from this unit. I'm 6' 2", 240lbs. and this thing wears me out; it is awesome.

Don't buy anything else. I do 10 houses a week; this machine is a workhorse

I've tripled my money in 2 months.

Worth The Money
This is the 4th Dewalt machine I have bought for my small powerwashing business.

We originally bought 3 machines similar to this one more than 6 years ago. These machine are GREAT!

They run for hours and are well built with a Honda motor and General pumps. They are workhorse machines and worth the money!!!

Small Business Jewel
I am a retired graphic artist. I decided to start a small pressure washing business to earn a little extra play money on the side. I researched several brands and models available.

I finally came across the Dewalt 4200 and was totally swept off my feet. The others couldn't even come close to the power and price I could afford.

My first job was a 300x6 ft., 3600 sq.ft.privacy fence. With the ability to adjust the pressure with the 5 tips that were included and the throttle I completed... more

Pa. Farmer Very Happy
I purchased the 4200psi DeWalt pressure washer and I am very happy with it.

I have had many washers but this one is the best !! I can run it at half speed and it does more work than the 3000 psi washer I had full speed. It starts easy and is excellent for cleaning hard crust fertilizer and wet silage that when dry and cakes-on is very tough to get off.

I can clean the upper side of the barn about 12 ft high using the 40 Degree spray and it works great- engine at full speed and just... more
