 Consumer Buyer's Guide
Select a Size
Pick the Perfect Electric Power Washer
Shopping for an electric pressure washer is like shopping for a vacuum cleaner. The more powerful the motor; the more powerful the pressure washer.
In general terms, pressure washers come in two sizes: small (1300-1600 PSI) and large (1700-2000 PSI).
The PSI rating will determine if you need a small or large power washer. However, it’s actually the style of the electric motor, which really separates the good from the bad.
Motor Types
Universal Motors
Universal (or brush) motors are typically found in small, hand-carry pressure washers and perform the job at a very inexpensive price.
If you rarely use your pressure washer, you can save some money by purchasing an electric power washer with a universal motor. It just won’t last as long.
Induction Motors
Induction (or brushless) motors, however, are typically used in larger, more powerful electric power washers. They typically last longer than universal motors. They also cost more.
If you want an electric pressure washer that lasts, spend the extra few dollars and buy one with an induction motor. You’ll thank us later.
